This site used to be so helpful a few years ago. What has happened? This is the first time i have ever been the only registered user that was logged in. I am not leaving though, we can get through this together. I just need a few moments to collect myself..........

Any way I know that there is already a post for ideas for improving the site, but like the rest
of the site the post is three years old and no longer relevant. That would probably be a good place to start. Get rid of the posts that are no longer relevant, maybe put them in an archive of some sort. I mean really, I bet if you were to look hard enough. My posts from 2004 could probably be found and I bet some body's probably posted to it recently. Sorry to break the news to you but I don't own a single piece of that equipment. So any info that you think I would use is completely useless.

Lets get some sort of filter that prevents people from posting in forums that were around before Obama.

I do realize that the managers of the site can't prevent posting to old posts, but maybe
the font size for the dates of the post could be made more prominent. I mean that when you see a post header that sounds useful, it is really kinda hard to not focus on that. It wasn't until I had gone through a couple of pages that I noticed that it was from 2008.

This really needs to be addressed. I know that instead of any useful comments that should probably be made I will probably get a bunch of idiots replying with a bunch more useless comments and judging from most of the other posts this will probably last through half of our next presidents term.

]Lets get some new forums rolling guys quit posting to questions about people that are interested in upgrading to a 6800 gt or whether a sata 2.0 is the way to go. Make new forums morons.

Now He is being elevated to a B.C./A.D.-like position?

The division of all that was...before and all that came...after?

And HWA shall lead them...

:D

Even though this site is not as active as in the past it is still very useful imo. I mainly use it to keep in touch with most people but in the occasion that I don't know how to solve a problem I get help from people who are experts in different areas. If you search for a specific problem for PC's HWA comes #1 on Google quite a lot. And this site still receives a lot of post about (sadly) the same problems but people are still being helped by the HWA community.

You're wasting your typing time trying to get something done in here like improvements,
new reviews or anything trivial basically. Because the people who have the authority, just can't
be bothered. It's a fact. Nothing materialises. HWA is a forum. A social forum now. Of course
help is still offered. But don't expect face-lifts, reviews, avatars, locked threads...
it's just not gonna happen unfortunately.

You can still post your questions and someone will probably give you a pretty decent answer.

Don't get me wrong , I had a question That needed an answer and this was the first place after
going to the products site. After 12 hrs the question that really required a yes or no had been reviewed 30 time but never answered. Five yrs ago this would have taken fifteen minutes.
I really dont blame the forums I blame places like Best Buy and Walmart etc. These have become the places where people get their answers now. Disinformation is better than no information. The lookey loo's need to be stopped and encouraged to register and keep the threads fresh. If I had not been a past member and had just found the site and scanned around for answer that would have not been found, I would have moved on.

I've witnessed the decline you're talking about here, only over a longer period; if you went back three or four more years, not only would your 'Yes/No' question have been answered by at least half a dozen knowledgeable people, but they would have probably gone on to offer detailed explanations for their opinions, perhaps even pointing out something additional you might have missed. There used to be a number of people around here who, pretty much anything they said, you could it take to the bank.

Disinformation is better than no information.

Hehehe. Where would Wikipedia be without that maxim? It's rare I encounter someone who understands the very nature of the internet as well as you seem to :D Perhaps all forums, blogs, wikis and web page creation apps should force the addition of the words 'I reckon' to the start of every string of text entered? ;)

Well I reckon that even if the site has gone down in interested persons, it is still a viable resource of good info. It is still better than what I would get from other places. So I wont be leaving again. I dont have all the answers but I do have all the time I need to Help find them.

In the beginning of this year, the forum's access is not too bad as far as I can see, with big threads like the BFBC2 thread. Though it slow down a little bit in the past week. There were times last year, that's even slower.

I agreed with what Tam said, unless the site owners suddenly decided to renovate the site, it's not going to change.

Well I finally found an answer to fix my problem I had with my IBM 4.7 MHz XT...

Now, seriously, after many frustrating months of searching for and finding an competent answer to a persistent technical problem I literally stumble across this site late night as a last and final try, hoping to find resolve.

"..and a light shone upon my sheer eternal question" and I was presented with reading an answer! After implementing the solution (One that M$ could not even spit out), to this moment (by now three hours) the issue seems to be resolved and the problem gone!

So I joined this forum to write and share about my hardware torture.

I will will post soon more about my tale once I am able to verify all. So far it's magic.... and I hope it stays that way!

One of a few members on here, who always goes to in-depth help with a plethora of
knowledge is John Albrich. Straight forward, very helpful, intricate, sensible answers, and he
offers as much help as he possibly can without being patronising - unlike some... I take my hat off to the guy ;)
