So, we finally get a teaser trailer today:

http://www.ea.com/battlefield3

Not much else, but I believe I saw a Lynx in the trailer - interesting choice of chopper for the NATO side.

Main soldier graphic VERY similar to BC2 - so we can expect the Forstbite 2 engine to look similar to BC2's 1.5.

If this is BF2, with updated gfx and balance issues sorted, I will buy it. Fcuk it, I'll buy it anyway lol.

I hope they keep the way the med/ammo packs work in BC2 however, much better than the insta-heal / resupply of the medic/ammo spam in BF2.

Battlefield 3 allows you to feel the full impact of battle like never before. Powered by Frostbite 2, the next generation of DICE’s cutting-edge gaming engine, Battlefield 3 delivers spectacular visuals, earth-shattering destruction and real as hell combat gameplay providing a dramatic immersive First Person Shooter experience. One moment you may be marching down a hilltop listening to the hypnotic sound of a firefight in the distance or admiring the way the light reflects off the smoke plumes of ground to air missiles rising from the city you’re about to engage. The next you’re on an urban street, surrounded, claustrophobic, fighting for your life and looking eight ways at once with all your senses on high alert, chilled at the knowledge that the building you’re hiding behind can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Welcome to Battlefield 3.

Some more info:
http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlefield_bad_company/archiv...r-now.aspx

Prone, jets, and 64 player. Full single player and co-op campaign.

I'm looking forward to it - and the beta :)

Also, as released by the guys on the EA forums, you can drag injured soldiers to dsafety, explosions will throw you to the ground,

A few points:

1) f**k jets

2) YES to 64 players and the return of prone

3) I bet my next paycheck that they'll ship a server browser that is just as f**king useless as every other server browser they've shipped! :P

Will never buy a game like this again, unless it's completely amazing. BC2 was lame(as is any war game imo).

TBH Micheal, its only the war FPS games that the PC actually excels at, and that included the spin off games that get made as a direct result of the FPS....Quake, Doom, Dark Magic, Oblivion, Fallout etc etc.

I honestly think that taking the prone out was the single best thing they done to the BF series.....I remember the dolphin diving absolute f**kin mongos from BF2 what an absolute waste of time even playing on the server with them....macro'd keys all over the shop.

The fact that you could go prone in BF2 wasn't the problem, it was the ridiculous lack of animation from standing to prone (ok, so there were maybe three frames between the two...), and the fact that you could do it while f**king airborne. BC2 seems to handle the standing -> crouching transition pretty well; I think if they do a similarly decent job with the transitions to/from prone, it should be fine.

If you're referring to The Witcher(which I believe you are?), then yes, I will. If you're looking for someone to call retarded, then please take a look in the mirror. I'd prefer a game with a story rather than some mindless, unskilled shooting game. I've played enough of them, mastered them, seen it all -and they're boring.

The Witcher 2 will be game of the year for 2011 if all goes as planned, or should be. BC2 was one of the best 'war' games I've played but frankly, I feel bad about paying the money I did for it(you can get it for $7 now, rofl). I don't EVER play it, even though it's installed for whatever reason.

Plug, the current war games today are spin-off's of Quake, Doom and Unreal(even Duke3D). It's only because of these games that the FPS genre is even popular today. Not sure what you were trying to say, though.

The 'war' genre is completely worn out and I wish they'd just stop making these kinds of games honestly. A game like Quake or Unreal would hold my attention for years as opposed to CoD/BF games for 2 weeks. *Note to the gaming industry - make FPS games that have good stories, you f**ks.* Very mature, by the way Keiran, you fake ass Canadian.

Anyways, Darkfall ftw.

LMAO.....mastered them? Yeah for sure, I bet.

Going by the way you think....all games are 'spin offs' of an earlier game.....what do you mean by that?

War genre is about as worn as the mythical fairyland games you play Michael.....your genre is just lamer lol

Yeah fake Canadian...I wear the maple leaf close to my heart and drink watered down beer and suck at the sport I invented ( basketball )....LMAO

Take a joke Michael....like the rest of the Canadians I've met can.

HWA is a forum full of people taking the p**s out of each other ( Plug, Dubs, Tam etc )....except you are the only one who can't handle it lol

How can a multiplayer, online FPS have a good 'story'??? Thats the main component of these games, not the single player. BF2 didn't even have a single player.

To say they are not skilled games screams of someone who got pwned too many times tbh.

You stick to the Witcher - which by the way follows the same rubbish as other RPG's and stuff. You could probably draw its roots back to Hexen.

All games follow a blueprint made by games of old. To state otherwise would be ignorant.

You don't like FPS games, fine. Don't come in here ruining this thread to have your little rant.

Why don't you start a Witcher 2 thread and be happy?

Michael,

Do you even see how many times you have contradicted yourself in that statement above....as for games like BFBC2 etc being skilless is an absolute STUPID statement. Yes if you are playing the SP story like I bet you are then of course its all mindless crap.

The trouble with you is, and we touched on this before and do correct me if I am wrong.....you play all these games OFF LINE....maybe the odd time you play online...let me tell you something there are some absolutely stonkingly good players on line that would leave all of us to shame....in all genres of games. Some people are better at some games then others I bet you HATE fast shooter games.....I bet you rather think about what colour potion to throw at the lvl 3 retard for 10 mins becoz if you do indeed throw the red potion at the blue lvl 3 retard...what will happen if the red lvl 3 retard appears afterwards....ARGGGHHHHHHH

How you can say that the WAR FPS games are all the same when you constantly play "REMAKES OF DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS" is beyond me....now that is samey....how many times can you call a troll a troll without knowing its a f**kIN TROLL....As for mastering games I pretty much doubt you have mastered any game you play online if in fact you even play online....and please dont tell me raiding some poxy village in the land "FAR FAR AWAY" is uber kool at 5am with a bunch of spotty friends.

'You're f**king retarded mate....go play with your witches and goblins'

Yeah, that sounds like a friendly joke man. "Oh, he's just calling me a f**king retard...haha, what a funny guy!". Yup, that's exactly how I took it bro, obviously. And trust me, I can handle anything that anyone would like to throw this way. Please do, I find it amusing anyway.

I'm quite sure Plug just said that the only 'real' FPS games, are war based games, and that games like Quake and Doom are not FPS games at all? Rather, spin-offs of true FPS games? Smrt. And Plug, I've been playing FPS games online since I was 10 and I rarely play a single-player game now days unless I hear good things about it. I couldn't play through BC2 entirely, as it was about as fun and original as putting on a pair of sneakers.

You guys seem to jerk it to these new and upcoming war fps, graphical based, vehicle oriented games, rather than find a game that you truely love. A game like BC2, Call of Duty etc. does not work my brain in the least. I can play thats**t blindfolded and end up in 1st-3rd place. There's nothing complex about it. The best thing about BC2 is that you can blow up buildings.

Try playing a game like Quake or Unreal against the best players in the world in a 1v1/2v2 before you say anything about how competitive a game can be.

You get hit by bullets and you heal to full health instantly(by doing nothing). You sneak up on someones back and shoot them in the ass when they're not looking, and they can't even turn around to shoot back. You shoot them with a 1 shot kill from a mile away. You throw a random grenade(because you can't aim, anyway) and it kills two people by chance. You have practially unlimited ammo. Mainly, you speak as if I am some gamer noob, yet I would likely best you all in every fps game known to man. You don't know 'fast' until you play Quake against the best players in the world. BC2 is a cakewalk(using BC2 as an example).

It's also obviously by everyones statements that you've never even played The Witcher. If you had, you'd know that you play it for the story, not the gameplay(even though it's nothing like you described?).

Dubs, I'm not ruining this thread, it was all started by Keiran and now everyone else is jumping in as usual. How about I come in and call you a f**king retard at the beginning of your next thread, how would you respond exactly?

If I really meant to call you a retard....I wouldn't end it with mate...Plug understood it.....

It would be more like

"You f**king retard"

Also, you should play some BC2 online with us, would love to see you get in top 3 consistently

If I wanted to play a game for the story and not the gameplay, I'd read a f**king book lol

I challenge you to a round so. I guarantee you will not end up 1-2rd, unless there's only 3 people playing.

Used to. Its boring, old way of playing FPS. twitch shooters I call them.

You get hit by bullets and you heal to full health instantly(by doing nothing). You sneak up on someones back and shoot them in the ass when they're not looking, and they can't even turn around to shoot back. You shoot them with a 1 shot kill from a mile away. You heal to full health instantly by doing nothing? News to me. Sneak up on someone and knife/shoot them - their fault. You probably did well getting that close anyway.

I can throw grenades quite accurately actually.

No unlimited ammo at all. You must resupply, like most other games.

BC2 is a cakewalk? As I said, I'll challenge you. Though form your comments, it doesn't actually sound like you've ever played it online.

It's also obviously by everyones statements that you've never even played The Witcher. If you had, you'd know that you play it for the story, not the gameplay(even though it's nothing like you described?).

Nope never played it, never want to. But I don;t bother wasting bandwidth by commenting on it either.

You are, this thread is about BF3 - talk about that, or STFU to be honest. You're off topic.

Challenge me in a game that I haven't played since release and that doesn't even have 1v1? I don't think a 32v32 is going to prove anything. Cool story bro.

You know you're a noob gamer if you call playing in a match with 64 people winning, 'skill'. It's too bad the way gamers think now days. One of the worst players in the server could end up being 1st place based on luck. You haven't played against pro gamers, either, if you truely believe these games are 'twitch' shooters. Boring if you suck, probably. To be the best, you have to time each weapon, ammo and armor spawn. You spawn with no guns. You have to use multiple weapons to achieve a kill against a good player. You have to use complex movement and jumps to even be considered playable.

It's too bad they've had to dumb-down the games of today in order to comply with the bad gamers that populate today's games. It's so damn hard to find a truely competitive game these days(luckily I've found one). If you're a casual gamer and don't focus on competitiveness, then please state this and I will understand. But don't try to say that current generation FPS games have anything on the games of old competitive wise.

You must understand that I play FPS games competitively for the intelligence, strategy and difficulty, to understand where I'm coming from. This cannot be achieved through any of the new games that are being released.

Continuing talking about BC3 all you want...

You can do 1v1 if you like. You can not end up being 1st place with luck....you have to kill, capture, heal or repair to get to number 1....none of these you can do by luck?

I will continue to talk about bf3 thanks. Look at tye thread title.

Were even even old enough to play doom and quake when they released?

Its funny you mention those games as the most cometitive etc whe CS is arguably the most profitable pro game these days - a tactical FPS. lol

1v1 shows nothing. If anything youd fluke that easier than anything.

64 players sorts the men from the boys. A bad player will NEVER be ajywhere near the top.

Shows how much you know.

The challenge still stands - it was you after all that stated youd come in the top 3. By all means make excuses now that your bluff has been called.

I reckon youve probably never even played a single competitive round.
