For starters, if your still running a P4 and old hardware (mobo) you don't have the option in your BIOS to boot from USB. So your pretty much, well.... f**ked.

A quick google search found many, many how to for doing this.
This being your first time, it will be difficult.
I would read multiple guides before attempting this to make things go smoother.
