  Sony Vaio VPCCW17FX Display Problem

The display is very very dim on my laptop. I have replaced the LCD screen so I don't think its the inverter or the backlight. It connects to an external monitor just fine. Brightness setting is all the way up and everything as well. It's almost like the "Display Off" button is pressed down and won't come back up. Any thoughts? I'm out of ideas here.

did u ever resolve this.. its been a long time.
i replaced a mb in this laptop. No video. there are dip switches under the keyboard , but dont know what to set them to. mb mfg no help. they test with external monitors with all the switches up or on.... i matched the old MB switches and still no go. any help appreciated.
