Ok, this might be silly question, but here goes..

I have a bunch of CD's that I've ripped via Windows Media Player to my desktop. I'm giving the desktop to my mother in law since her's blew up last week, and I'm heading out of country for a year. I just got a laptop, and I want to bring my documents, videos, and music files to my laptop. Documents..videos..yeah, grab and drag/drop between the two devices. I've got a nice new crossover cable to connect them :)

But what about music files? Will WMP see the music files if I drag them into the default folder? I just dont want to spend the next 2 hours ripping CD's if I can help it :) I would think it should be a no-brainer, but then I'm over thinking it I think lol, and wonder aloud how will WMP see the files in the music library?

Shouldn't be a problem. I've used a thumb drive to transfer MP3s to my wife's laptop; put them in the Music folder and they were detected without issue.

The only problem we had was idiot iTunes wanted to transcode and duplicate all the files, but that's not related.

See, that's what I thought...but it was getting waaay late last night, and I started thinking about registry files, how would OS know where the files were...etc...
