I want to replace my Eclipse II, I don't like the feel. I miss letters all the

The G15 seems to be the one to get, and they seem to be readily available on eBay or CL for about half of new.

I realize it's subjective, but has anyone used both and can compare them, ie, are they similar, different, etc?

Also, is there any difference between V.1 and V.2 of the G15? And finally, the G11 is the same thing with no LCD, correct?

I want a keyboard with backlighting and media controls. I love the idea of a volume knob instead of buttons, but you get what you get.

I have a G11 and my roommate has a G15. Although they're decent, I wouldn't recommend either. I'm sure SteelSeries has something better.

What don't you like about them? Can you tell a difference between the two in terms of feel?

Sorry man, I can't really explain it. You'll just have to take my word for it. I wouldn't buy either one again and either would my roommate. Also, IMO Razer makes crappy products. Check out SteelSeries products.

Yeah, SteelSeries' ratings on Newegg are pretty dire. The ONE keyboard that got a good rating is a bog-standard 104 key for $100. Solid kit is solid kit but I need more than that, I want solid AND bells and whistles, especially for a full bill.

Hadn't really considered Razer. I know Mothow liked his Black Widow.

Keyboard/mouse very subjective... along the same as speakers... heheh..

I really like my Microsoft Sidewinder X6 keyboard.. It got two big round knobs. One for the keyboard red backlighting (from off through full on) and the other for Volume. I like the compact size due to the numkey/keypad can be detached and be used on either side of the keyboard. I have it detached as I wanted the compact size since I have a limited keyboard space. It has series of programable macro keys. The downside to it is that the keyboard sits flat as there are no tilt legs. But thats ok for me. Like every other keyboard out there... not everyone is going to like it. Heck, you may hate it just because it is from Microsoft.. lol..

You know what that's funny, there was an X6 on Craigslist recently that I didn't buy because I'd heard it has ghosting issues. I don't have any ghosting issues with my Saitek and I didn't with my GE Multimedia before that, but it kind of scared me off. You ever have any problems with that?

You still play Halo PC? Or am I thinking of Doc P?

Wow I could've sworn I replied to this thread earlier. Check out the Saitek Cyborg, it's pretty damn cool.

I absolutely have no issues with my X6 keyboard in either normal use or while gaming. I like the way the keys depress.. no clickitie sounds and has a right amount of pressure. The keys are concave in shape so your fingers sit in it versus a flat key where your finger tip can be slid anywhere on the surface. But then again, your preference may be for the flat keys or not.

Halo PC.... hehehe... you know what... I really have played that in quite some times... I have been doing BFBC2. Since you mentioned it... I may have to spend some quality time with it...

The problem with the g15 is the fact that the keys have a lot of "travel" and feel squishy. They aren't mechanical.

Mike's G11 is the same.

But then again, don't logitech have newer keyboards like the g110?

Check into those, maybe. It's all whatever you're looking for.

Like Lentles said...
The g15 keys have to travel far, they are a standard keyboard, not mechanical, thus if you don't press forcefully with every stroke (and loudly) you will miss keys or press them in the wrong order constantly! I spend more time correcting spelling errors from the keyboard then typing. It feels like it is tek from the 90's.

The main selling point for the g15 is the lcd. I love it and use it very often.
I use the macros all the time, but who needs 18 of them?!
I love the back light.

Don't buy anything but a mechanical keyboard. (laptops are mechanical)
There are kb's where you can change the color of the back light.

I have been waiting for razer or a steel series lcd kb to replace my g15... But will they ever make one?
