  HP 6735b won't power up anymore

My HP 6735b no longer powers up, with or without the battery.
The battery led flashes 8 times and then the system switches off. The
power led does not come on at all. Even with the laptop closed (ie
screen down) and the AC plugged in with no battery inserted. No beep
codes are heard either.

It started as an intermittent fault, and progressively worsened until it
just would not start.

I replaced the RTC battery but to no avail. I also replaced the power adapter brick and cables, got the DC jack professionally replaced and inspected the motherboard and still nothing.


I have read a few times lately that replacing the inverter board can fix this problem. I don't know how that would be because that is part of the video screen and not the initial power startup. Or am I wrong. I hope I am because the inverter is a affordable fix.
