Now that was straight up whack. My screen just went completely beige. No writing or images, nothing but blank beige. Couldn't bring up the task manager or anything. The system was locked up. I had to reset and it came back normally with the little message saying it had recovered. I just reinstalled a few days ago but haven't installed the symbols and crap to read the dump files, but still that was just odd.

.
Didn't you recently change something with a video card or some other piece of hardware? Or was that someone else? I seem to always run into initial (sometimes persistent) driver problem every single time I change a video card on some systems.

Did the Event Viewer tell you anything?

Yes that was me with a new XFX Radeon HD6850.I'm running the latest drivers and running it at stock speeds. Oh crap my administrative tools link is f**ked up. Now I got to go fix that. I'm also looking for a good program that will show my GPU temp and fan speed in the tool bar. For some reason it doesn't show up in Everest and precision I was using before only works with nVidia cards. I forget what the bug check code was, but it's the sane one I've seen a few times with Windows 7. Something about the voltage to the kernel or something.

Maybe change vid card driver if the problem persist. That's not a good first impression from your Ati card.
