Lately I have been experiencing blue screens with alarming frequency. All of them are caused by the same error: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. I have about a dozen memory dumps that I have examined in hopes of finding the cause, one of which can be found at this pastebin:

http://1dl.us/rEZ.txt

I have a decent understanding of computer architecture and operating systems but not enough to determine the case of the problem by looking at these dumps. Every dump indicates win32k.sys as the source of the problem and every dump has the default bucket id (whatever that is) of VISTA_DRIVER_FAULT.

The last hardware change I made was to install a Radeon HD 6770 card. I have reinstalled its driver but that did not seem to help.

For every page fault, the instruction addresses which referenced the bad memory addresses lie within the range of around 0xfffff80002c80000 to around 0xfffff80002ce0000 which tells me the problem is coming from only one entity but I don't know how to figure out which one.

So I am here asking for help. If I cannot find any help here, does anyone know of where I can get help with this problem?

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz
Patriot Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3
MSI 970A-G45 Motherboard
SAPPHIRE 100328L Radeon HD 6770

Is this still a problem?

Also,

Which Vista OS version are you using?

Which Catalyst version?

edit:
to clarify, OS version = SPECIFIC version info, service packs, etc.

It is still a problem. I reinstalled the graphics driver again and it stopped for a week or so but it did it again yesterday.

I am using Windows 7 Professional x64 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
I am using Catalyst version 11.12

EDIT:
One interesting thing of note is every dump file had a SYMBOL_NAME of either win32k!zzzWakeInputIdle+c7 or win32k!SleepInputIdle+79 except for one which was win32k!GreAcquireSemaphore+1c. I'm not sure what to make of that, if anything.

I've read two or three comments about problems (possibly limited to 6xxx cards) with 11.12 that were solved by going back a version.

Don't know how reliable the info is. Software environment also makes a difference, I think they were all using Win7 64bit SP1 either Home or Pro...but that's from memory and may be unreliable. Might not make any difference on something you say is labeled as a VISTA_DRIVER_FAULT?

However, dropping back a Catalyst version (or three) historically has been known to clear-up similar problems in a given software/hardware configuration.

Well I didn't think of that but I will certainly try it and post back. Thanks for the help.
