So this guy I know is an actor and he made 4 audition tapes in MOV format. When I play them on Windows Media Center or Windows Media player they are sideways. When I play them on iTunes they are correctly oriented. WTF is up with that. Anyone know why they are doing that who could explain it to me? Or tell me how to make them play correctly without going in and actually rotating the image? I know how to rotate it with Windows live movie maker but would rather just have them play correctly without having to do that every time? Thanks!

You might have already found this, but it looks like it's a feature of QT:

This is because the iphone and devices set rotation flags in the video stream which QT is able to read and adjust. WMP cannot or does not read this information. Your choices are to rotate and encode, or always hold the camera in the landscape position.

Looks like your actor buddy will need to either re-record in landscape, or you'll need to rotate these four.

Thanks. Actually it's easy to reset the orientation. Windows live movie maker does it in one click then gives you format options for saving it. I was just curious why it didn't see it in the first place.
