I received a used Samsung DVD player (model: DVD M-301) with its remote control. Initially I noticed the remote working fine. But shortly (within a day!) the remote stopped working. I have tried replacing batteries, no effect. Today I tested the remote whether the LED is still transmitting (by directing it toward my laptop's webcam), I see a "light" on the webcam's image, showing the remote should still work. So I suspect maybe the DVD IR receiver itself is troubled.

How do I diagnose this? Is there anyway to rescue the poor thing? So I now have a DVD player which is otherwise working fine, but I have no way of controlling the player. Some functions are available only through the remote. I tried a universal remote control too (brand: Onn universal remote, model #39900), no luck so far.

PS: I'm new to this forum, I hope it's ok to ask this DVD player related question here.
