My GA-Z77X-UD3H won't start. I can't start it with the case switch. I can't start it with the power button on the mobo itself. I can't start it by jumping the pins on the power switch connector. Nor by using the reset switch as a power switch.

I CAN start it by hot wiring the 24 pin connector (shorting the green wire to a ground wire). If I do that and leave it connected, I can get into the system. The question is do you think leaving that shorted for any amount of time can or will hurt the board or the PSU?

It's possible, but you could easily buy a push-button switch at Radio Shack to mitigate your concerns. They're like... $1.
