My Motherboard also can disable voice settings control, but there's no way you can disable the System voice settings. I think this is because of the power that needs to run a certain thing. If your Power Supply is not enough to give power, it will surely give the System voice error message.

Anybody thought about checking the seating on their Graphics adapter card to make sure that it is flush against the adapter slot? I found mine was elevated on the case side, and dead flush on the centre of the mobo side. I raised the slot by adding a spacer to each case connector near the adapter card - It made a difference (temporarily) - then I had another problem, but that's a different story... Cheers, Tony

Looks like I get to see this problem firsthand now. Friend bought a computer (see System A details below) for me to build for him. I installed my 2.4C to flash the bios to the lastest version at the time, I think it was 1016. Put his processor in and all worked fine. He took the computer home and has been using it for about 3 weeks. Yesterday he get no post. Anyone else running a Prescott processer on this board with a 9600XT 128M. I'm hoping it ain't a repeat of my old computer's (System B) problem(http://home.ec.rr.com/th3d0m41n/ATX.htm) thinking of the fact that the 9600XT, like the 8500, doesn't include the "AUX" power input like the 9800 Pro 128M does. It sucks having to replace the ATX connecter and added extra 5V inputs.

System A: Orig build date (Jun `04)
Antec Sonata w/380W PS
Asus P4C800 Deluxe
Pentium 4 3.0E
512M PC-3200 (think Samsung)
ATI Radeon 9600XT 128M
Seagate 120G SATA (x2 RAID-0)
Asus DVD-+RW

System B: Orig build date (Aug `98)
AOpen Full tower case w/300W Antec PS
Asus P2B-DS (modded to handle excess power load of onboard/attached devices)
Pentium 3 600Mhz 512k Cache (x2)
1G PC-133 (@100) (256x4)
ATI Radeon 8500 128M
Diamond MX-300 (sound)
Kingston KNE-120 (Nic)
Seagate Cheetah 10k rpm SCSI drive
Plextor SCSI CD-ROM
Yamaha DVD-Rom
LS-120 (super disk drive)

Addon cards will NEVER, I mean NEVER EVER give you the system voice error message (IF I'm Correct). The only possibility are the CPU, RAM and POWER.

Oh by the way Screech, you sure did short circuit that PSU and the motherboard good :P
I look at those pics, haha.

Kairi Lim,
I didn't short the PSU, I overloaded the ATX connecter by drawing too many amps on the 5V leads. That old PSU is running fine, just cleaned the carbon and plastic from the 5V leads. Still, it was a learning experiance.

Same problem as you folks. Fan too tight to spin, not even a screen to look at when I booted up this card. Phoned the tech guy at the vendor, but he didn't know what the problem was (I'm begining to wonder if he did now) and he told me to return my Asus board, CPU and memory, because he said it could be either one that caused the problem. After reading these posts, I've sent him an email to him regarding the problems you have expressed and asked him, if he does replace my board, to send me an equivalent one that is NOT the ASUS P4C800 Deluxe.

If this is a big problem, which it seems to be, why is there silence from professional reviewers of this card?

Hello all you guys and gals,
Have you also check out the solder that gets splayed out by the pressure of the CPU Plastic load plate under the MoBo. If you do find it be careful with the heat. Sometimes best to add a little solder before trying to suck it up. It is the above which gives you a functioning board for a few days then you get the post message.

regards

I have posted before that my solution was, just reasambly the Mach2 evaporator....
Well actually did.
But some months after i decided to change the cpu, for a P4 3.4C
And it workd well also...i mean, no problem....
Till one day pc just freezed againg, and after restart it, never post again and "system fail cpu test" msg again.

So i reasamblied again the evaporador, change the PSU, unplaged the Vga, ram, HD, etc.....
Cleared the Cmos, took the battery out etc...........
The cpu works in other mb..etc.
Sent an email to asus..and a robot answer machine repied me...i cant belive it.

After 1 week of no solutions i have decided just buy a new Mb.. an Abit iC7-G

nothing more to say...its a pitty asus cant fix or help customers with this fuc..ing problem.
Lets try with abit now.

I get the "system failed CPU test" when I'm in windows and usually when I'm playing a game. There is nothing wrong with my computer. I can't seem to pinpoint any reason for this message and there hasn't been any conciquences except that anoying voice.

I'm running
AMD XP 2800 Barton
2x 512mb KingMax
Asus A7V Deluxe fsb at 380 DDR
KingWin 350W Power Supply
ATI X800 PRO
WD SATA 10k RPM 36gb HD
WD SATA 7500 RPM 80gb HD

Hello Everyone,

This is what I got from asus for the "system fail cpu test" problem don't worry about the different motherboard because apparently its been happening with alot of asus mobos:

http://www.asus.com/support/faq/answer.aspx?KB_ID=81439

Why does POST Reporter keeps on telling me "System failed CPU test" on A7V333?

A7V333's system failed CPU test issue normally occurs during mistaken selection of CPU multiplier. If user have chosen the original CPU multiplier setting package, the BIOS should have no trouble detect the CPU and pass the POST. If the setting does not match the CPU's exact speed, the POST will see this setting as false, and return with this warning "system failed CPU test".

Hope this helps,
Victor

I encountered the problem on my A7N8X dlx two days ago.
This annoying female robot voice chanted you-know-what like a banshee, but only during games.
I moved one stick of RAM from socket 3 to 2, and that put a sock in the banshee.
I have absolutely NO idea why that helped, but it did nonetheless.

[EDIT] Itīs working.
I played Ghost Recon for several hours yesterday with no problems.

Hi,

the problem comes from BIOSes updates which are usually worse than the original one.
Changing BIOS can solve problem and apparently the latest beta available is the faster bios (fast boot, 5 sec versus 20 secs before) and more stable thant others.

Hope it helps.

I've had mysystem running perfectly for almost 14 months, and now I, too, have the dreaded "system failed cpu test" voice. I read a number of other posts and concluded that it is the ASUS mobo. I don't have the time to keep my computer down while waiting on warranty repairs, so I went to the local Compusa where I bent over and paid their excessive price for a Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000-G. Swapped it in and everything booted up perfectly right away. I'll contact ASUS to see if I can get a warranty replacement, but I'll probably just leave it on the shelf. Clearly the ASUS mobo is unreliable and not worth the hassle. I've read numberous posts where people replaced power supplies, video cards, cpu's, wiggled connectors, but the only failsafe is to dump the ASUS.

Recently a system I built a year ago on the on the P4C800-E deluxe board starting giving the error. The customer said that he followed the reset procedures in the manual and board then did nothin at all. I looked at it and figured I'd swap the battery, kinda last resort before sending it to Asus. Once it was swaped it started working fine. Anyway, I don't know that the old battery was dead even so it may be irrelevent.

After 2-years of uneventful operation, 3-weeks ago, a cyber-female voice from my P4C800-Deluxe started reporting "System Failed CPU Test" every time I attempt to boot my PC. I couldn't tell if my system was even getting to the BIOS reporting stage as my monitor was not getting any video signal.

The first thing I did was to clear the BIOS and see if reverting to the default conditions would help, but it didn't. So taking the MB's posting message at face-value, I phoned Intel and subsequently RMA'd my CPU. Last week I received a new CPU and carefully installed it in my MB. However (as you probably have guessed) I still heard the same message after installing it. Figuring the PSU mighr not be providing the necessary voltages, I then replaced it with a know good 460W PSU, but the problem persisted. That's when I started googling and found this thread. Considering the many exact complaints I'm reading (here and on other similar threads), it certainly appears that the problem is a design-flaw having to do with the stress placed on the board by the Intel heatsink-fan retention mechanism.

Well I just got off the line with Asus' Tech Support & RMA Divisions and while they did give me an RMA number (as the board is still under warranty) they are in complete denial that they have a problem. ...seems like someone should have initiated a class-action lawsuit on this matter some time ago!

Hi

I have had 2 P4C800xxx boards with the same problem already, one has been RMAed with Asus and it developed the issue again.
Do you know a place where I can see some pics about this problem and how to solve it? All the links on this thread are dead because the age of them.
I have unmounted my P4C800E-Dlx but I cannot find the soldng point that has ben squized as it is said here. I have dismounted the heatsink plastic suport already but I cannot find anything.

I am getting the same error as all of you here.

Thanks a lot.

Hi, there..!
I'd like to share my own experience... Well.. I have an Asus P5GD2 DELUXE (got it 6 months ago and it's using bios ver 0702) and i had the same problem ("system failed cpu test") and no video at all.
But this started after a thunderstorm. After trying again and again, it finaly turned on but...
both dvd drives were gone! Even from the bios! Plus the dial-up modem was gone!
Agter turning it off again and without changing or removing anything from the system, the same voice again.. and no video!!
I googled that ang i was surprized to find so many people having that problem!
I've almost red all the related forums. I see that everyone's suggesting a defferent solution (the Power Suply, the Heatsink, bad cable connections, bios, Grafics Card problems, and many more..).

In my case... i came to find out that the modem was actually was damaged from a thunderbolt!
So when i removed it, everything came back to normal again, the drives, and the pci slots functionality.
I also tested this modem to another pc and caused the same thing!

So.. i understand that this "system failed cpu test" error post, apears in many deferent situations and almost non of them is actually about the cpu itself.

I hope everything goes well in the future to come..
