Hi,
Ive got a 2500 and a Gigabyte K7N400 Pro2 nforce 2 ultra mobo, and I was wondering had any one had tried to set the multiplier to 13 and the FSB at 333 on one of these boards to get 3000 specs. The reason being is that my ram is rated at 333 speed and isnt very high quality so a FSB o/c is out of the question. Thanks.

Wich Vcore are you using to run your 2500+@3400+?
I`m running my 2500@3000+ (10.5 x 200) with stock vcore (1.65v) with a A7N8X deluxe 2.0, 2 x 256mb DDR400 and a volcano 9. The temp is 43C idle and 48 full.

I turned my 2500 into a 3200+ (2.2ghz) with s**t ram I must say. In my GA-K7N400pro2 bios I set the FSB to 200 (400ddr) and my ram to 80%(166mhz/333ddr) so that my ram wouldnt die. The multi was already at 11 so It is set to go at 11x200= 2.2 = XP 3200+ @ 56°C/59°C after gaming for 15min.

I would like to thank AMD.

Leave your FSB @ 200(400) , Increase your Multiplier to 11.5x to 12.5x. Slowly increase it. If you have stability problems, then increase your Vcore voltage. You should be able to surpass the 3200+ by at least 250MHz. Have better than stock cooling.

Later.

I would rather the 2500+ if your useing a Gigabyte Mobo, being able to boot into windows at 3200+, if your not doing anything intensive (like just web surfing) you can just use easytune to change the FSB to put it back down to 2500+, since the multiplier's are the same. Although the recent Abit Guru and NV sys Util have not limited this to gigabyte mobo's now, when i bought mine i though it was pretty damn handy! just remeber to lower the voltage when you clock it back if its not already at stock(no point shortening your CPU's life cycle for no reason)

I just have a quick 2 qestions. I have just bought an athlon xp 2500+ and it should be here in a few days. I want to OC it to the same specs as the 3000+. I just want to know if this is possible on the Mach Speed N2PAP-LITE motherboard. Also, which heatsink/fan should i buy to keep my processor cool when OC'ed. Thanks!

Most if not all boards using the nforce 2 chipset make good overclockers.

I can get an effective 600fsb out of my board! (havn't tried properly yet though :( )

the ram won't really matter but you'll struggle to push ddr333 above 400mhz.

i am usin a crap akasa 3000+ rated fan. Only got it for the blue LEDS :)

i am planning on getting the aero 7+ cooler and some ram heatsinks for my graphics and system ram.

my cpu with the crappy fan is about 55 degrees full load. 58 if i use it at 2300mhz (200*11.5, 1.8V)

Hi

Does anyone know that Asus A7N8X-X will automatically unlock the 2500+xp?

First off, for the Barton Cores, Motherboards do not unlock the multiplier. The CPU's come already unlocked, but up to a certane point. All the newer Barton Cores that have come out recently are all locked. I don't know why AMD does this, but anyway.

And if you really want to overclock your CPU, then Memory (Ram) plays a "VERY VERY" important roll. If you overclock your CPU, then it crashes or something, then its 75% memory related...
OZc Optimized DDR, Enhanced Latency (EL) Series, EL Platinum Edition &/or Corsair XMS DDR Memory - 184-pin DIMM...

If you want the best heat sink and fan, check out the NEW Thermaltake Volcano 12 for Athlon XP. This puppy is good if you want to overclock your CPU and have a quiet system. Oh, and it's the best in the market. It's the same design as the Thermaltake Venus 12 for the Opteron and Athlon 64.

Check it out. Thermaltake Volcano 12 Ultra... @

"ClockGen for nVidia nForce2 and nForce3" allows you to adjust your FSB and Memory(& AGP,PCI) speed in real time in Windows. All you have to so is adjust your Multiplier in your Bios, then go to Windows and adjust all your FSB all you want. Its a good way to check out what FSB and Memory speed is stable with your Configuration. And it elliminates the need to always Restart your Computer. Then when your system is at its most stable point. Go to your Bios, and change it to its permanent state...

Here is the Web site that hase ClockGen for nVidia nForce2 and nForce3

http://www.cpuid.com/clockgen.php#support

OH, and if your Multiplier is LOCKED, then here is a way to unlock it.
Speed Strip SSA-1, a device designed to unlock the internal multiplier of AMD Athlon™XP CPUs based on the Thoroughbred and Barton cores.
And here is the WEB Site where you can find it...

http://www.speed-strip.com/

Good Luck.
