P4 2.4Ghz
ASUS P4P800 Deluxe
Powercolor Radeon 9600 Pro Bravo

I too have a solution for those of you (like the first poster) with a very similar set up to mine.

I installed the new catalyst released thursday (3.7?), though I am sceptical that this solved the problem.

What I have found is that if I switch off Hyper Threading in the BIOS all my games that previously wouldn't run now run at optimum settings with no problems these include:

Warcraft 3
TR-AOD
Will Rock
Breed Demo

I don't have hyper threading, and i can't adjust the voltage of my apg slot either. I guess that just means that i am screwed. the smarthart thing didn't work either.

Ok guys,

Here is my problem. I am a severe Counterstrike player...so it killed me when I got this video card that I thought was going to be great. I have an ASUS A7V8X-X MB...that supports 8x so I thought it was going to be unstoppable. Well I went to the gigacube website cause that is what I have a 9600 gamebuster. I tried downloading there drivers...but they didnt work my card would not read the drivers. Well there is a bios fix on there site, but it is apparently for the 256mb edition. Well I didnt see that till afterward(I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer). So here in lies my problem....I have the wrong bios...so in edition to the game freezing before I even start...Whenever I can manage to get in..it is fuzzzy now. How can I unflash the bios that I flashed into my MB. If you guys could help that would be great...thanks

Jonathan

Hey all, some people in this thread mentioned about upping the voltage to the gfx card to resolve some problems but would it benefit me with my ATI Radeon 7000? Does anyone have this card and has tried upping the voltage on it?

Here's my system specs:

* TDK CDRW (48x16x24x)
* Elements 56x CD-ROM
* 400W PSU
* ATI Radeon 7000 - 64 MB DDR

Any input would be greatly appreciated. :)

John, typically you should just be able to flash the correct bios into your card and overwrite the incorrect one.

Just download a copy you know is right, and you should be golden.
Hopefully that's not redundant help for you!

Forgot to mention, you'll likely have to aquire the correct bios either from Gigacube themselves, or search for it on the web.

Good luck.

Thanks for the help...the problem is..is that when i tried to do the correct one..it said it was incompatable when i did it in the ezflash program...when I did it in the ASUS bios update prog. it said it was the wrong file size because it wasnt a bin file. I dont know if that could help you to answer my problem any better, but thanks for trying.

Check this s**t out. Just installed 3.7. Changed the Counterstrike settings to OPEN-GL. Joined a server and got to the Loading screen. At about this time, I was happy. Then the stupid ass error report pops up and my program crashes. It keeps doing it over and over again. I can't ever seem to get open-gl to work. Does anyone have any clue what so ever, on how to get this s**t working????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Not to put you guys down or anything but just simply looking at the link it says it wont run in 8x mode, I have just finished a system using an Intel865PERL and it locks up in 8x, go to 4x, like the link says and it works. Try instead of asking the tech monkeys that answer emails (most just read from the FAQ and use that to reply, or go to the one or two people that actualy know what they are doing there for the answer) and instead ask to be informed when there will be a driver/firmware patch to fix this problem.

Just my two cents. Other then that, I would suggest returning the card till they get the bugs out, other then that its a pretty nice DX9 card, runs 3Dmark fairly well.

In this case I'd suggest a bit more juice than 300W.
You're running 2 hard dives, 2 CD roms, loads of RAM, and a fast Proc on really the bare minimum voltage.
It might not be it, but that's the only glaring thing I can see.

hrrm thanks for that.
would a low powered PSU cause my system to randomly crash???
because sometimes it just restarts
and my system is band new.

Yes...yes a thousand times yes.
A low PSU cannot maintain a stable flow of electricty to all the comonents. Say when you are playing a game, and the hard drive spools to load a level or hit the swap file, that can overload your system that is already taxed with running the CPU at 100% as well as a video card and RAM that are dealing with Gigabytes of throughput.
The drain excceds the capacity, and video cards and CPU's a VERY sensitive to fluctuations in current, so they take a s**t and crash....in laymans terms!

I've got a very similar config, and I'm running 400W with no issue.

As for the 3DMark 2001se question. Download the 330 version of it and run that. Prior version didn't identify DX9, and refused to run.

Hmmmmm didn't read the end of your last post....
Crap, that sucks. :(

I heard that nForce systems actually play nice with ATI stuff, contrary to what you'd think.
I can't remember, but you've updated the BIOS and loaded the most recent chipset drivers, right?

Then there is always the option that the card is just bad. I had to return a then brand new GeForce2 card because the memory was bad, and gave me all kinds of headaches. New card ran like a champ!

I wish I could offer more definative help.....
