Nice one Micheal, I'm glad it's working for you.

However, I don't believe in throwing money at a problem though as I've spent enough money already. I believe it's partly down to the fact that people like Intel invent "standards" like AGP and other companies like VIA and ATI have to implement them in their own way. A lot of times, these things are just "reversed engineered" and that's when trouble like this can start.

Crazy

Crazy, I agree, I don't like throwing money into fixing a problem either, especially when I should be saving my cash. But I had other reasons for upgrading, I've actually wanted to do it for quite some time. This ATI frustration just accelerated those plans and I'm crossing my fingers that it keeps working as I had enough of this crap and don't plan on upgrading for a long time now. As for those AGP comments, I would probably agree with you on that one too, but there are a lot of people in this thread with Intel 865 based boards and have the same problem, so that's why I'm inclined to believe the bulk of the fault lies with ATI.

yeah ive spent enough money on the card alone. I'm putting my problems in ATI's hands.

I tried the reference drivers, and they refused to install.
I kept getting an error stating that there was not a supported device present....

After a series of email back and fourths with ATI this is they're latest help, haven't tried it yet, but ill let you guys know if it worked.
also let me know if you guys have already tried this and it failed (or worked)

"We would suggest attempting the following reinstallation with our 3.7 drivers using the order provided:

1. Uninstall ALL ATI programs listed in ADD\REMOVE Programs under the control panel

2. Restart into SAFEMODE.
Windows 98/ME - Hold Down the SHIFT key or tap the F8 key as your system restarts.

Windows XP/2000 - Tap the F8 key once prompted

3. Select START and then RUN. In the Open Field type REGEDIT followed by selecting the OK button.

NOTE: Prior to making any changes please backup your system registry.

To backup the system registry.

A. Select and highlight My Computer in the Registry Editor
B. Select File and then Export
C. Export Registry File dialogue box will then appear
D. In the File Name Field type the name of the file (i.e. Backup)
E. Ensure that "ALL" is selected in the Export Range section
F. Select the SAVE button.

4. Remove the following registry keys:

NOTE: The below Enum Key is ONLY available under Windows 9X/ME. As well, not all keys will be available under every OS.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI Technologies
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ATI
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ATI Technologies

5. Close the Registry Editor and restart the system

6. Allow the system to redetect the display adapter. Windows will install a default VGA graphics driver

NOTE: This will not occur under all operating systems

7. Once prompted restart the system.

8. Windows will then redetect the monitor. Allow the system to install standard monitor driver for your display

9. Install DirectX 9 and then restart the system (located at http://www.microsoft.com/directx)

10. Install the ATI display drivers and then the ATI MMC - Restart once prompted

11. Test the PC"

well, doing that i think ATI just wants to make sure all ATI files are removed from your computer. I installed the 3.7 drivers on a fresh install of windows and a reformated HDD so i dont think its that.

Hi guys!

I have just 2 questions:

1) What is the -12.00V tab about in the bios or MBM 5 ? Mine is at -6.5V does this mean anything?

2) I saw that my GC is recognized as a Raden 9600 Series and not as a 9600 Pro what it should be! Is there anything wrong or is it just a driver issue, malfunction?? Or is it just a description that includes the PRO version by default or should it say PRO????

Good luck to all again. My system seems to be stable at least, but I am still not satisfied with the results, 'cause the card isn't running with DX9 nore AGP 8X and with 1 nodge down on Hardware acceleration!

By stating "series" it is encompassing all 9600 cards.

I removed every single last trace of my drivers, and it refused to install due to the reference drivers inability to see the videocard as an ATI Radeon anything.
I put the 3.8's back on and bingo, no problems installing.

I downloaded the new MOH game demo for "Call of Duty", and every time I get to a certain spot on the map, the card freezes, the VPU recovery thing comes up, and my gamma is all messed up. May be a demo bug, but it's getting old.

Grrrr....

Update on my situation.

The same card that was giving me random reboots on my A7V133 (AGP 4X, fast writes off) is now working flawlessly in my A7N8X Deluxe Rev 2 @AGP 8X with Fast Writes on. Hell, I can even overclock the 9600Pro by 50MHz and it still works like a champ.

I know this is definitely the wrong attitude, but if you want this card to work properly, get yourself one of these boards. Either that, or hope they somehow fix it in the next driver release, which I'm really hoping they are capable of.

they are capable of it, its just the matter of ATI actually putting the work into it.

Well as i mentioned before, i installed the older driver Cat 3.4 and i have no more problems with any of my 3d games. Of course i set my AGP to 4X, i did that already with the new driver but i still had the freeze ups. So you guy's install the Cat 3.4 and see what happens. And o yes i almost forgot: never buy anything from ATI again!

Hi all.

EpoX 8RDA+ nForce2 mobo
Athlon XP 2200+
Elixir 256Mb DDR400 x 2
Club 3D R9600 Pro 128mb with Omega 2.4.78 drivers
Windows XP

was thinking do I need to change my memory chips to other type or not?
after buying the C3D card, games worked alot more better than with R9600 256mb (my old R), but still I got problems on C&C Generals coz it crashes to "Technical Difficulties" error msg, did it even with old radeon.
have changed some BIOS settings, tried different drivers, updated C&CG, updated XP also but still confused what is still wrong....when I contacted EA Support they gave me list to do to my settings and I did all except disable dual monitor, coz I don't know how to remove it. if anyone knows how to disable dual monitor with Omega drivers on, please tell me coz would want to test that since I'm considering to buy Kingston or Samsung memory chips so wouldn't maybe have to buy them for nothing :)
Thanks.

Hey All,
I wish i had found this thread before i went out and got me A Tyan Tachyon 128MB Radeon G9600PRO
I have a P4 2.8GHz, 1024MBDDR pc2700 ASUS P4S800
Having the same problems with Age of Mythology and C&C generals, all my other 3d games work.
Was having similar problem with my 128MB Sapphire Radeon 9000 and Age of Mythology which was why i bought this new card

Have tried about every single catalyst driver, and ATI dont respond to my emails.

Not sure where to begin, so many ideas, any suggestions would be helpful
