Jack:
Well.. It was a COD fourm...I think it is leaked so ATI would not have it on their site, but anyway the guy on the fourm I got it from did not say much about where he got it, except it was from an indepentend Driver site.

the xt isnt out yet... well not in canada anyway, but it MIGHT have the same problems if it has the same GPU just with a higher core speed, i dont know for sure so dont take my advice but it might if it has the same gpu as the 9600 Pro. They might have fixed the problem in the 9600 XT as well who knows... your just gonna haveta wait it out.
No Clue,
is that a patched version or a leaked version? if its the leaked version, how does it work better then the released version of 3.9? Have you noticed any performance increase/decrease with this driver? i was scared to try it out since you say it is a leaked version but if you see nothing wrong, i might give it a try.

What's this what's this?? A leaked ATI cat 3.9 driver??

How about that for Windows 98 users??

Btw, my radeon's working fine (no crashes for a long time) but in 4x mode (via chipset driver was the one that did it for me). But crashes in 8x is still there....

Jack:

From what I know it is just a new 3.9 cat driver with a few minor changes and so far it has not given me anymore performance then the other one...may comp has been more stable but I still get crashes everyonce and a while, so for me atleast it has not been that much help...From what I understand it is a leaked driver, but at the sametime there is no danger in downloading it and giving it a shot, but just in case make a RESTORE POINT before you install it so in case "all hell breaks loose" then you can go back to your orig drivers and system config. So far it has done nothing for me or against me, it is a 30mb download so I hope you have broadband!

As far as the windows 98 question I have no clue, sorry bro.

yeah i already downloaded it in like 10mins or less =p... I got fast cable here in Canada. I deleted it though because i thought it was an OLDER version then the released version on the ATI site so i didnt want to do it. So its a NEWER catalyst 3.9 driver? If it didnt work for you i dont like my chances so i mine as well wait for 4.0.

OK my 4th post. Turns out my optimism over 3.9 cataclysms was premature; when I went up to agp 8x, bingo, freeze. I was getting so tired of this I thought I would simply replace my 9600 pro with the ASUS 9600 XT, reasoning that I have an ASUS mobo so it should work with an ASUS gfx card, they are a good OEM, and their version of the XT is not the ATI reference board but one with better cooling, which I think might be part of my problem as the powercolor 9600 pro only has a crappy little stock fan on it. Let's cut to the chase.
I did a clean install of win2k on my a7v600 pro, updated to sp4 with current drivers, and latest creative drivers. BUT when I installed latest VIA drivers for my mobo, before I'd even added any ATI drivers, I got shocking graphical corruption on the desktop - everything went stripy and flourescent. Adding ATI drivers *seemed* to normalise things, but on closer examination I could see artefacts even on the windows desktop - little dots appearing, window title bars the wrong color etc. And the only game I installed, FIFA 2004, didn't get past the load screen. Thank heaven for hard disc images - back to 3.7 with 9600 pro straight away; at least at 4x this setup sort of works. My money at the moment is on my VIA chipset and their AGP bus being at the bottom of all this. I think I am going to have to change my mobo to find out for sure though. What a mess. :-(

Jack:

I might do the same as well, but I will see in a few days.

Yea, buy a whole new mobo for this card to see if it works... thats the kind of stuff that p**s`s me off, for the added cost of the mobo, and the other crap (power supplys etc) people bought on this thread just to get this card to run we could have bought a new NVidia card and saved us alot of trouble, I dont like to bash ATI because it seems like a good card for the money but damn just make it work.

Hi , I have read these posts with interest, I have a Tyan 9600 pro, This card worked fine with medal of honor AA, but when I play COD after about 10 mins the screen will freeze, go completly garbled and if im lucky will eventuly return. some times I have to reboot . what is interesting is that on the reboot the desk top has dropped to the lowest resolution. I have the latest ATI driver installed. on a ASUS mobo. I will try some of the suggestions already posted. whats annoying is mt ge force 4 card worked fine no crashes at all.
I thought it may be DX 9 as this card runs MOH which is DX 8.
