Hi Guys!

Here is my 3rd post! I have recently found a BIOS update for the Gigacube 9600 (PRO)! Here is the link:

http://www.gecube.com.tw/supportDriver.php?op=bios

I also found a driver for these and other cards manufactured by Gigacube! Here the link:

http://www.gecube.com.tw/supportDriver.php

I didn't test them yet, but I´ll do so soon. If anybody want to test them and do so and have any success, then, please, post it here for other people who need help!
Oh, I just forgot! I also found the new Hyperion 4in1 Driver Version 4.51. Don't know if there is already apost here. refer to their HP to download them!

Best regards and GL to all!

To Twilight Guy - Gigabyte Radeon :)

I think I was the first to post i own a Gigabyte Radeon 9600 pro (Gv-r96p128dh) :)

I got the card working on my Asus a7v8x-x (via 8035/kt400 chipset). Rather than chaning my motherboard I just run the card at 4x. Works fine no probs any more.

So anyone who has Gigabyte Radeon cards -- please try AGP 4x mode, if that don't work try changing motherboards.

Regarding Gigabyte cards, my old mobo was a Via kt333 type and the AGP limit was 4X, but the card only ran at 1x, plus a few other problems like NWN not working and so on, so a change of mobo worked fine for me. But like the guy said, change your AGP setting, if no joy get a NFORCE2 based board, mine is a Soltek version- now the card runs fine, 8X AGP ,all features running and no tweaking of the BIOS needed.

Just for info, I too have tried the cod 'fix' (the newest one 22.1mb) and used the catalyst removal tool from the ATI website to remove my 3.9's first then re-booted then chucked on the cod ones, then re-booted again, re did my resoultion then went straight into C&C generals (without changing anything) and the second I moved my mouse the damn thing locked up again :( Same with AOM. Now the only games I seem to be able to play are BF1942 (Desert Combat) and COD (but only in Bilinear filtering, trilinear locks up after about 10 mins) I have tried all the stuff you guys have suggested but still to no avail. Im really tempted to scrap my 9600pro and crappy sis mobo and go 9800pro and nforce2, this combination doesn't seem to produce any problems, but then I ask myself, why should we have to fork out for more stuff just so it is compatible with each other. It doesn't seem fair.

my rig:
Barton 2500XP - (400MHz fsb) 3200XP (Aero 7 + AS3)
512mb DDR3200 Crucial
PC Chips 848ALU 'SiS748' (Don't ever buy one of these!)
Tyan 9600PRO
550W PSU.

Quote: "so you all got crappy cards" - Is that your professional opinion then? Actually my problem with cod probabally lies in my SiS chipset on my mobo and any Ati card, not exactly being the best of compatibility buddies... so if you were to say "so you have a crappy mobo" then I couldn't agree with you more, but as you are just being smug, i would say you are a git. =P

hi everyone... new to the site.

I have also recently have had the honorably first week BS, NOT NEEDED, TIME WASTED trouble with my brand new ATI radeon 9600 pro card which I bought because of the increadible performance and quality it provides. Amazing huh? Yes yes, I fell for it too.

Jack black-
Have you gotten into Counter-Strike yet? If you havn't yet because of the freeze time. Try unistalling CAT (whatever version you have, becuase they all don't work). Installing the newest driver update from the ATI site. It Think you said you had XP right? Here's the link. http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/winxp/radeonwdm-xp.html?typ...submit.y=7
Install that and nothing else. That eliminated my Hang freeze.

BUT NOW While I'm in the game I have little dotted lines in the corners and sometimes the pixels (?), have enlarged themselves. Does anyone else have this problem?? Makes the game unplayable. Please help

Jason

Good for you. Waste our time.

FYI, ATi cards smoke Nvidia cards in HL2. FACT. (Now, let's just assume that HL2 will EVER come out) That's ok though, Nvidia will have another card come out that will compete with it for -->only<-- $500 usd.

I promise you, I spent far less on my video card than you did - but I am equally satisfied if not more.
Thanks to this thread - ALL of my problems with this card are gone.

Turn off AGP write in smartgart.exe, and you should have smooth sailing.

Btw, I did dedicate 1 hour of my time to bugging the hell out of ATi about this problem. Hopefully more will.

Thanks to all that helped.

just thought id let you know disabling agp write in smartgart.exe doesn't work for everyone..
It only seems to stop the crashes in 1 game out of the 4 i tried, ill try again next time i come across a game that crashes but this fix doenst look like it works for me (anyone else?)

Anyway... Can anyone give me a name of a mobo that is Guaranteed to work with a ATI Radeon 9600pro?
was going to be upgrading this s**tty motherboard soon anyway, but i need to make sure whatever i get will work with my 9600pro

Brent Red
You are looking for a new mobo, okay here is what I did. I have a Gigabyte 9600 Pro 128 Mb card, ther is only one version of it plus a 256mb version, so there should be no confusion on that issue. It (the card) would not work properly with my older EQS mobo that uses a VIA chipset (333 type), so instead of getting an Nvidia card, I bought a new mobo that uses the NForce2 chipset, this board is made by Soltek and you will find it on their website. Reviews of this mobo are not totally glowing, due to niggles like tthe CP socket being a bit close to some part or other, but for me, this board as been the most trouble free board I have used snce my older Epox one a few years ago. And for the main point, the Gigabyte card and this mobo works fine, no not fine, bloody great. And to cap it all I use a Soundblaster card too- something VIA chipsets hate as well.
So Brent Red, I don't know if you are able to get a Soltek board, but mine cost me £57.99 and the best thing is I could re use my 2100+ Athlon and 512 333DDR memory that was being used on my EQS mobo and I can upgrade to a 3200+ Athlon when prices fall enough on those.
So try one of these boards, but if that not is not an option, try and get another NForce2 type board - forget VIA ones, they seem to be a pest, first with Soundblaster and now with ATI cards.

Twilight

Hey, I was having same problems. I haven’t fully resolved the problems but improved it; So far I have toggled about with every option relevant to ma video card (that I can think of). At the minute I can play Halo, Need for Speed Underground and C&C generals in full x8 mode. But I have problems with COD, I can only seem to play that in agp x4 mode without it crashing also CounterStrike only works in agp x4 mode. Can anyone help...? I've tried the Call of Duty hot fix but it seems to make matter worse as I can't play any game in agp mode x8. at the min I’m using the omega drivers... Also is ATI brining any fixes or new drivers for this issue?

Also I might be buying a new motherboard (going to use this in another system) which motherboard would be recommend for Ati 9660xt to run stably
(I’ve kept fast write off)
My Specs are
Asus A7V8X-X (motherboard)
2400+ Amd
Sapphire 9600XT 128MB
768 MB DDR

For heavens sake!!!!!
Please read at least some of the posts placed here, for you might, just might, find the answers to what you want- and for the guy that just asked, get a NForce2 type board. Why do I say this, cos i use one and my Gigabyte card works properly with and the soundblaster one too. The alternative is to use a VIA one, these have problems that are well known else where on the web, so I ask this, why would you buy a mobo that uses VIA???

re:Twilight Guy
thanks for your advice, unfortunately i'm running an intel p4 2.4 so i cant go with the same motherboard you did, i noticed one mobo that looked promising(the SL-865Pro-FGR), however i cant be positive it would wouldn't have the same problems, i would have to research the return policy before getting one.

So if anyone knows of an intel based motherboard(that supports a p4 2.4 chip) that works properly with the 9600pro (preferably with agp 8x, fast write and all the other features it should be able to run) please let me know, thanks

and thanks again twilight guy

I bought this card a week ago, and havent tried half the things you purpose on this never ending tread... Obviouslly my card crashes with almost all games (except Silent Hill 3, the main reason for updating my old and GOLD Radeon 7200). Buyin new hardware its not a choice. Thats for sure. Its like buying a new house to put inside a new tv cause it doesnt fit on your bedroom. And besides i have noticed that no matter wich mobo you have, no mather wich sound card you have and no matter wich processor you have... the problems remains unfixed after months...
Also is not a solution even when it works, to slow down the core of the card, reducing the agp speed or other settings cause you have paid for a card that its supposed to work as they promise in the cool ads and in the box and i prefer to use an old card and being near 200 euros richer than using a new card like and old one and being 200 euros poor.
Im a graphic artist so my main usage for my home computer (at work we have some ati 9700 but i dont know if it has some issues with games, havent got time or will to take the risk) is using photoshop or other graphics apps... In that programs the radeon reveals itself as having a wonderful, superb graphic quality. So Nvidia isnt an answer to my problems.
I have read and dont remember after 50 pages who said that the problem can be solved with drivers... but i wont wait. Now i can return this card and receive all the money i spent. I prefer to stay with my full working Radeon 7200 than waiting till the refund policy doesnt allow me to recover my money. And i know, im not bringin anything new to this thread, im not givin any solutions cause it doesnt have any solutions. Only ATI can solve it but it seems that they dont care about customers or games. Even when 90% of the users buy an ATI for playing.
Im an ATI fan and will continue to be, but not with this card. I will wait until 9800 is affordable and then i will buy it.
