im getting an xfx 5900 256 meg shipped to australia from Newegg(going through a friend) just because it will still be half price here (400$AU istead of the 850$ au it costs here), its pure bullshit that we get ripped so much on graphics cards here, specially since we going so well against the american dollar, oh well im happy, im getting it for a lot less cause of the exchange rate!!!

Cool. I suppose it is because of shipping more so then exchange. Hope you insure it when you get it mailed.
There are a few things I can get cheaper via mail orders but sometimes after exchange and shiping I may as well get it from down the road.

Harris,
I noticed your back on HWA, if your still with AMD do you have any information as to why AMD decided to lock probably it's most popular and best selling processor (Barton XP2500+)?

Well this sucks, I was just going to buy a 2500xp because I hear they were nice chips but nooo AMD sticks it in my ass right when I have about $800 to spend on PC parts. Idiots.

Being as this is happening, which is the best choice for a nice AMD-64?

I was thinking about going with the socket 940 model which is interchangeable with the opteron and some fx chips, so I could upgrade my chip without buying a new mobo. Good Idea or no? Anyone know where I can get these for cheap? I refuse to buy into INTEL.

Get a 2500+ Mobile (with 512Kb L2) and it is guaranteed to be unlocked. They overclock VERY high. Easily 2.4GHz on air.

Athlon 64 wise, you could go for a Athlon 64 2800+, it's usually faster then the XP 3200+ (32bit). Get a nforce 3 250 board with a working PCI/AGP lock and clock the 2800+ much higher

A huge waiting game.. as there are alot of changes going around.

I'm not a fan of Intel, but even they have some up and coming items I would like to see.

But that motherboard won't unlock the multiplier of a locked processor.

besides your not sure until youve tried it, oh btw some here have gotten the same motherboard which uses the NF2 U 400 and same CPU and their CPU Remains locked, so that just shows that its a hoax that NF2 Chipsets do unlock CPUs.
