here is the problem. I installed the card and the drivers and everything seems to workd fine, except that winxp doesn't seem to save my resolution at 1024x764. Everytime i boot the pc up, it reverts to the 800x600 resolution.

anyone have any ideas on how i can fix this to where it remains at 1024X764?

Try doing this

Open your windows folder
Select all files using CTRL-A (make sure that you have 'show hidden and system files and folders' ticked and untick 'hide protected system files' in folder options - i.e you must be able to see ALL files.

Press Alt-enter to get the files properties screen. You're gonna have to wait a few minutes here while it reads all the files and calculates their size. Once it's finished calculating the size in the check boxes for the file attributes the read-only box should be a coloured square, clear that check box so that it's empty.

Click Apply, it will ask you if you want to apply changes to this folder only or all subfolders and files - make sure you apply to all subfolders and files. It will again take a few minutes while it processes are file attributes.

After that's finished, change your resolution to whatever you desire and then restart the machine.

This is just a suggestion along the lines that it might not be remembering the setting due to a read-only error on a file. i dont' gaurantee it will work.

Other things to try is to uninstal whatever monitor is detected in the device manager and manually install the 'default monitor' driver - this way you have full control over resolutions and refresh rates. - again a suggestion.

Let us know how you come right in the end.
