Whoops... sorry about the extra post.... Well my problem is that my computer won't work. When I turn it on, the monitor goes on standby and my modem is on but doesnt sound like its runnning. I was told that it was my CPU and I bought a new one and the same thing happens. Is it something esle wrong with my computer? Thanks for reading this and any responds is greatly appreciated.

The problem started oneday when my computer frozed on me when i was playing Bookworm (addiction). I turn it off by holding the power button. Turned it on and it work fine but then it frozed on me again. Now when I turn it on, nothing happens. The computer seems running but I don't hear anything and the monitor goes on standby.

Does your motherboard have a PC speaker? One that beeps at you if something is wrong... I was just wondering because if you don't, it might be trying to tell you something but can't because it has no speaker..

Could be a motherboard or ram issue.. Possibly a powersupply as well.. Post some details about your hardware.

Well, it's an old computer... its a Compaq. 750mhz, geforce3, 512 mb ram, 40GB harddrive. So if it beeps then there's a problem?
