Ok...I know this might cause uproar, but I wanted to know, how many other people reckon Microsoft utterly screwed up Windows XP?

I ask because in the 6 months since i got my computer I've had almost 30 problems with Windows, and just an hour ago I had to reinstall it because of something...it wouldn't even let me see what the BSOD said.

I've seen so many other people with the same problems, and some completley different to mine.

I'd also like to say what a help this site has been in helping me to fix these seemingly insurmountable problems.

Thanks for any correspondence,

Anthony

You'll notice that most hardware drivers and programs are NOT microsoft certified. Their reasons are valid that it takes alot of time and money to get cert. but by not writing software to MS specs that makes a whole machine full of suspect software that makes it hard to blame the OS for crashes due to crappy software and bad hardware. Via chipsets used to be very messed up just a generation ago or two ago, I don't know if they're better now but I assume they are. Most crashes are from some messed up piece of software other than XP.

Windows XP is definitely screwed-up. Unlike previous Windows operating systems, however, it is an improvement. XP is stable, user friendly, and just all around better then the previous DOS based systems. No product will ever be perfect but Windows XP is definitely an improvement for Microsoft. As time goes on Microsoft will continue to try and iron out the issues the in XP. Right now it is pretty screwed but compare it to Windows ME and you will see what I mean by improvement...

I really like XP, once I set the screens and icon the way I like 'em. It seems that I find to cause of a conflict much easier then in past systems but, tools are limited to do manual fix once the drive won't boot. Every thing has it's good and bad points, this one is the best so far (XPpro). Even if you use linux or variable, they all have so many issues it will make your head spin so we hope it will continue to move forward. You school boys should get over there to redmond when you finish school. You can make everything you hate all better it'll be easy. :-)
