Try this:

< on XP Pro here - Right click on My Computer on desktop > Properties > Advanced Tab > Startup & Recovery section > Settings > at the top of this window there are settings which instruct the system as to which OS it plumps for and how fast it does this if there are a few to pick from - mine is set to 3 secs but this is worth a try - BEFORE DOING ANYTHING - TAKE A NOTE OF THE CURRENT SETTINGS MATE!

Good luck

May look something like this:

[boot loader]
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect

Delete this one: "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect"

PM a copy if you like.
