>> Re: Two
I have a 120 gb hdd with four partitions.

i had win xp in drive c. i had to reinstall winxp but somehow by mistake it got installed in drive d.
now even after installing win xp in drive c again and formatting drive d, still i get option of two win xp
at boot time.

Please tell me what changes to make to boot.ini so that i will not get that boot screen of selecting which os.
should i delete the line
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

Try this:

< on XP Pro here - Right click on My Computer on desktop > Properties > Advanced Tab > Startup & Recovery section > Settings > at the top of this window there are settings which instruct the system as to which OS it plumps for and how fast it does this if there are a few to pick from - mine is set to 3 secs but this is worth a try - BEFORE DOING ANYTHING - TAKE A NOTE OF THE CURRENT SETTINGS MATE!

Good luck

May look something like this:

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect

Delete this one: "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect"

PM a copy if you like.
