About the Motherboard Companies. My Ideal is that All the Motherboard companies shouldnt play favoritisim to the video card companies, what im saying is that the mobos should support both cards by their strengths and fix weaknesses of each Vid Card. Not just one card but both. In otherwords optimize them the way they should be, not lower the performance of one or the other. Oh another thing i may add is the GART should be Fully integrated into the BIOS and not have to install it via Windows. But Who Should Care, because it is said that the BIOS May no longer be existent. Because the Companies are trying ways to configure the hardware via the Operating system Now. Doesnt Matter if its WINDOWS, LINUX, MAC they are all trying to do it.

works on the 8rga....change the setting in the bios and walla the radeon knows. I have tested and been testing all night various bios options and their effects on a bench....fastwrites and agp8x are worth leaving on if you can.

I have a Radeon 9700 pro and I think it is just another problem with ATI drivers, it is always an ATI driver problem.

PS. I will never buy another ati card again!

once again, wattage doesnt mean anything if the psu isnt stable...but thats probably not your problem. Did you uninstall the previous card prior to installing the radeon? Double check the seating of the card in the agp slot as sometimes the flap that the screw goes through makes the card stick out of the slot just enough to loose contact. Do this visually looking to see if there are any visible copper rails sticking out from the agp slot. To cure this you can bend the metal flap that screws into the case just enough to push the card in all the way....then keep an eye on it as you screw it in.

Strange graphical glitches when we boot up. Red and green spots appear on anything the radeon is rendering and messes up polygons. Happened inside a 3d application for apparently no reason
Tried latest ati drivers to no effect

Ati Radeon 9700 pro 128

you forgot one important spec.....power supply? Nforce 2 mobos require a minimum of a 350 watt psu. The combonation of all of your stuff warrents the purchase of a good quality 400 watt psu minimum. By good quality I mean a good reputable brand like enermaz, antec, vantec....etc. Not some cheapy that came with a $100 case.
Those symptoms are normally the result of underpowered ram on the video card. One way to find out if that is it is to download radionator 2 and underclock the card. One of my systems is almost identical to yours and has always been flawless.
a7n8x deluxe/xp2700+@2,544mhrtz
9700pro@452/361 fully modded
I am using a enermax 461vp in that system
I have used a vantec 520 stealth in it earlier on

you can also take a dc tester and test the 5volt line of your psu for violent fluctuations. It is the red wire and the black next to it on the molex connector. Yellow is the 12v. Get a base line reading from the desktop idle and it should be no less then 4.86v.....then fire up a game and if you loose too much this is why your card is displaying artifacts.

radeonator 2.0, power strip, and the omega drivers...the omega drives have the overclocking funtions in the advanced display tab. Since you are overclocking then I would assum that you are looking for the drivers that will give you the best score...I have had the best luck with radeonator combined with the cat4 drivers.

Is there anyway to turn off anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering w/ the new 3.4 catalyst drivers? I'm new to ati graphics cards, so any help would be great. Thanks a lot.

Hello,
Long time ago I solved my ATI n G4force probs (CS and Battle realms)...first I added Corsair>>>GONE...then I was playing ok...then noticed sometimes not often -I get blue screen...so I installed antec true550...gone...then Ive been having those random restarts (sometimes not often)...I recently installed the Zalman HP80 passive cooler on the Radeon...still testing...

But here is what I noticed...when I took the card out to install the zalman...I was taking out the fan and heatsink OEM...it was SOOO DUSTY....coz I noticed the restarts I have been having was getting more as time passed...I air dusted it for storage...I dont think Ill ever use it again...It made me think that DUST makes stuff hotter....so for ppl out there...take a good look at your cards....it could be a heat prob...just trying to put in my cents worth...

Btw I used artic silver for thermal grease...on the zalman to Radeon...its the best they say...will update if I still get those restarts...

****Radeon (I dunno where I quoted this could be in this board) restarts PC if it gets hot-there is a chip that signals the PC to restart if it gets hot....
