Already read some articles on the 64 bit AMD chips and they are slaughtering the latest P4's, AMD 64FX is 16% quicker on most applications than a P4 3.2 even though the AMD chip was a 3200+ rating.

Guess it's true the MHz doesn't count for much now.

well if u understand this at the point a 2.4 32 BIT L1L2 doesnt stand a Chance against a 1.2 L1L2 GHZ 64 BIT, Thats Why Intel is supposedly Putting L3 cache on their 32 BIT processors, i dont think MHZ is going to go any higher until after Intel Releases their 64 BIT P4s, also some peeps had low scores with the 64 BIT so they are keeping with the 32 BIT because the 64 BIT processors are still in Baby Stages, it is like with the first new generation of a Processor Series, like the First P4s and First XPs, in other words ill be waiting until the 64BIt is fully developed. It Goes the Same with Vid Cards, ATI 9700 Pro and GF FX 5200(First AGP 8x boards)Not to Mention Every Board Reacts differently due to the chipsets. Only if they had Golden Select for processors, mobos, ram, sound and such.

Too Bad AMD wont Adopt the Rambus Standard the ram they have operates at 1066MHZ or little bit over 1 GHZ, but they are working on 1.2GHZ i think.

eh PCI i would never use unless if it is a secondary capture card, but whats it worth if if u have an ATI All In wonder Radeon Series Vid card, but how about this Dual AGP 8X slots, set up as A and B. Not to mention USB needs to keep itself updated quicker, because Firewire 2 is in the works and it will smother USB all over again. Also i think that SATA should be way faster than PATA, not 17 points above 133, That sounds like a waste of time, also i think that DVD and DVDRW drives should be up to UDMA 100 because current DVD Roms are UDMA 33 same with CD RW and DVD RW drives.

normally i would agree with the whole pci video card statement....cept this time they are claiming double the performance of the 9800pro. Funny how ati running at lower mhz is like amd running at lower mhz and in the end both of the lower mhz companies are on top! Ive already seen some 24k benchies with the athlon fx51.....thanks god I dont have the cash to temp me:-)

Well i think that there should be a AGP 8X because AGP is a newer Technology compared to PCI so PCI should remain in the pastfor other devices and AGP stays on TOP for graphics with the 8x under X86 64 Based Computing. Not to mention i think GHZ rating should be higher than going back to the original 1.2 Ghz and such even though it is faster by 16%, Oh and one thing that Fuels for Better Technologies is Competition, if it wasnt for Competition, Products would be very Crappy at moment in otherwords we'd be living in the Dark ages of technology. Ya i agree about trying to hold back on getting the 64 FX processor, id like to get my hands on that Power House, Not To mention a 600 Watt PSU with Clear Plexiglass and dual fans with Manual adjust in front panel and back, in other words cases have a Universal Front Panel that can control everything as of fan speed, but u know what id be running processor fan at max capacity at all times unless if having to mess with something, ive heard on here someone took their finger off by trying to adjust the speed and finger got stuck in fan. Oh i think ive found a Good Case for Either Intel or AMD, but id do some things to it http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/cas-120.html, like change the PSU out for a 600, add another CD drive bay and another Floppie Drive bay. Total of 9 Drive Bays and a Front Panel Connector, 8 back bays for PCI and AGP cards, certain mobos come with risers for additional Midi and Firewire and USB ports.

it wont as long as peeps have problems with this vid card,(I think it may be mobo but cant determine it lol) Already Replaced the card once installed Drivers, SMARTGART found AGP 4x stable, Mobo set to 8x with fastwrites off, fastwrites are off in smartgart, already tried everything now im thinking its the voltages that the mobo cant produce to the AGP slot.

Now ive got a question about Sound Card, I have PCI 512 with the Driver disk that is used for Windows 98, Well When i go up to the website for Creative Labs to get the New Driver for XP, it says u can install the Applications from the CD, but the deal is How do u install the Applications from the disk without installing the Windows 98 Drivers( Ive already installed applications once before but it also isntalls the 98 drivers)? then u can install their Driver for XP, XP has built in driver but i prefer running the driver Creative labs provided, because that driver provides more than basic functions and such.

First of all i think somebody should contact Ati and get them to look at this Forum because there are a hell of alot of ppl here having problems and this needs to be address's

Now i dont have problems with pc reseting which i think is due to the fact ive got a decent qtec 550watt psu but i am having problems with frame rates now in 3dmark02 i get a respectable score of 15000- 16000 + not to shabby,
However ive since brought a new game called CALL OF DUTY by activision now this game runs on the quake opengl engine i Struggle to get over 60fps and have seen lows as low as 20 ! fps
Ive got all the details at max but only 1024x720 res anyone else getting this problem ?

Saying that ive seen lots of other problems Quake 3 v1.32 for example my Ati 9700 cannot benchmark over 189fps in timedemo 1 demo four .. now if i look on the internet i see places such as OCP getting benchmarks of 289 fps ! even the old geforce 4 mx400 gets 190+! :S so that said wtf is going on is there a quality control cap on windows xp or on quake its self?
The thing that makes me think its a quality control thing is if i drop the res to 480x320 super low detail i still only get 189 -190 fps :S now if i slap on fsaa 16x etc and knock the res upto 1600x1200 full detail i still get 189-190 fps :S!

My system specs are
AMD athalon xp 2.2
512 Crucial pc3200 ddr400
Mobo Asus A7N8X deluxe
2x Maxtor 120 gig diamondmax ata 133
Audigy 2
Qtec 550watt psu

Now im abit of a bios noob, but because i only have the 2.2 athalon is dosnt support fsb of 200mhz only 133 but in the bios i have the memory setting set to by spd and when the pc boots up it says fsb200mhz but the cpu isnt being overclocked it still says 2.2 is this right? should i set it to what it should be 133? or is it ok to leave it at 200?

Anyway ty all for ya time :)
FUBAR

Ps: UT2k3 anyone with sort of the same specs as me what fps do u get in flyby etc ? and be honist cuz i really need to compare .. ty

thats odd I think thats what I got stock....dont really remember for sure but 189fps sounds hecka familiar....btw, what is the exact model of your cpu?? xp2800+ tbred is 2.25ghz but the xp2200+ is only like a 1.9 or somethin. The 2800+ barton is like 2 or 2.16ghz. Flashing the bios will improve compatibility using spd or auto settings. Ill check my benchmark log for ut tonight to see what the fps is and post it.

Hi Matt ty for the prompt reply ..

The ut2k3 benchmark when i did mine i used the default benchmarker in the system folder and i got a rather depressing score full detail 1024x720 i got 169fps flyby and 68fps botmatch i havnt updated ut2k3 yet so that might help alittle i guess ..

Thing that p**ses me off more than anything is before i brought this motherboard and the gfx card i made sure that i would have fairly decent benchmarks and framerates by looking up the best boards and gfx cards and memory at the time and yet again im stumped with bad frame rates :( well i say bad its not really that bad its just i expected alittle more for my money .. Maybe i have a MAJOR bottleneck in my system ? possible? i cant even play Call of Duty my fps's are so low :( but from what ive heard, that might be the game as ive heard alot of ppl having similar problems with it ..

Oh yeah nearly forgot the CPU is a Tbred 2.2 runs at 1.8 i was thinking of upgrading to a Barton xp3.200+ as its got a fsb of 400mhz with will suit my memory quite well, thing is tho its 200 quid is it worth it ?
Will it make that much difference?

Thanx again for ur time
