http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads/p4vxasd2_5x.html

download the flash AMI utility, and the 030310 BIOS. Get a blank floppy and insetrt it into a working computer. Right click on the A drive and hit format. Check the box that says create an MSDOS startup disk and hit start.. After you have finished, unzip the BIOS and AMI utility files add them both to the formatted floppy. Set your computer to boot from floppy. When you boot up with the floppy in, it will take you to the DOS screen, and you will see

A:\

Type in Dir so it says A;\dir, and hit enter. It will show you all the files on the floppy and at the bottom you will see the a:\ again. Type in the name of the flash utility plus the BIOS bin file. It should look like this

a:\aminf335 e030310s.rom

Hit enter. If it worked the date in the BIOS will have changed back to March 2003. If it didn't go back and try again only at the end of naming the BIOS file put in a space instead of a period (the system is twitchy). It should look like

a:\aminf335 e030310s rom

One of those should work. After it is finished and you see the changed date, update it and turn off your system, and unplug it. Use the jumper to clear the CMOS. Restart your computer and reset the BIOS to optimum or fail-safe defaults. Start it up. Once it boots go back in and reset the BIOS to your personalized settings if you like. Make sure the date is right or a lot of stuff won't work

Just double checking if everyone who is having probs with this mobo changed the jumpers to reflect the type of ram they have? If you are usinf SDRAM then jump J2A/B/C/D and J3A/B/C/D open and if you are using DDRAM jump the same closed. JP1 is voltage open for DDRAM (2.5V) Closed for SDRAM (3V) Then change the multiplier for 100 mhz or 133 mhz. I believe a p4 2.2 will then run at 2.6 (mine does) ;) Anyway I am not responsible for any changes you make and there success or failure just my two cents

Just make sure you have checked the addendum for the CPU clock jumpers. The jumper positions were misprinted in the user guide.

Hello all, i also have a problem flashing my BIOS.

::My System::
Motherboard: ECS - P4VXASD2+
RAM: 2 x 256MB SDRam
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor 2.4MHz
Chipset: VIA P4X266 (VT8753) ---> Told by "CPU-Z" Software
Chipset: VIA 82C3128 rev 1 ---> Told by "BA" from American Megatrends Software
BIOS Type: American Megatrends
BIOS Date: 09/05/02

I've downloaded 2 flashutilities, one directly from A.Megatrends & other from ECS Website
From this link: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?...mp;LanID=0

The one from American Megatrends, tells me that the BIOS can't be flashed / has no option to be flashed :angry:

When i use the flash utility from ECS i get this error: "Flashpart - PMC 29 F002T_V2"

My system is a little unstable, and needs the BIOS Update for the new hardware i'm going to install.
If someone can help...:cool:
Thanx in advance

Is the flash utility you are using called aminf335? And is your rm file called e030310s.rom Did you do it the way I described in the post dated jan 4th 2005 just at the top of this page?

No you are using a newer flash utility. I uploaded the 335 onto my site for you. download this one and try it. I know it's compatable with this mobo.

http://angryhippy.net/files/WinFlash.zip That is the winflash utility and the AWD flash off the install CD

http://angryhippy.net/files/aminf335.exe That's the amiflash utility. I used that one to flash mine. Post back if you need help or something else.

I tried flashing my BIOS and got the same error message.:( As it turns out, some BIOS chips cannot be flashed on the motherboard even with software provided by the board manufacturer (in this case PCCHIPS) >:o. I finally found this out after contacting a tech at AMI. The only way to upgrade the BIOS would be to remove the IC, place it in an EEPROM burner to load the new program, then stick it back on the motherboard and reboot. The problem is that most of us don't have access to an EEPROM burner.
In my case I wanted to use a hard drive larger than 137GB so I used an IDE PCI card. The only problem now is that I can't boot from the drive on the PCI card but I'll save that for another blog.
