Rodney Armstrong Dec 21, 2002, 06:31am EST Report Abuse
Clean install of XP Pro, SP1, and security fixes. Did not run refresh rate
fix, or go into the control panel for display and change anything.

PC Mark 2002:
CPU: 7568
MEM: 6989
HDD: 1078

System
ANTEC SX 1030b with 4x 80mm aux fans
PC Power & Cooling Turbo Cool 425 ATX PS
Gigabyte 8PE667 Ultra w/ Intel 845PE chipset
P4 3.06 w/ Hyper Threading
Corsair 2x 512 PC3200 cas2
ATI 9700 Pro
WD 80 gig SE with 8 meg cache
SB Audigy
the rest doesn't matter...

NOTE: I did 1 run of 3dMark2001SE, was drinking beer, and didn't think
I would make it if I did multiple runs...

Cat 2.5 ATI drivers, and whatever winXP installs for DirectX: 15152 3DMarks

DX 9.0 (final release) Cat 2.5 ATI drivers, 15124 3DMarks

DX 9.0 Cat 3.0 ATI drivers: 14988 3DMarks

When I ran the refresh rate fix for ATI cards... that lowered my score
to 9336 3DMarks.

I can't figure that one out. Mabe that was a bad driver install... That is
why I did a clean install for the above benchmarks.

I ran 3DMark 1 cycle per driver set. As I said I was drinking, and couldn't
make it longer than that.

In 2002 I had an 8500LE ... I would have given my middle nut for a 9700 Pro!
