What is there to show? I presented official scores from futuremark's site, all you have done is put it in your sig and taken a screenshot. There is no link to the compare page on ORB.

Dont go after him for no reason man, we are all friends here. Or at least I like all of you ... :P

Hell, it's ATI's turn

The 6800GT's direct competitor was the X800XT

The X850XT is better overall, but not in everything

Wait till the nVidia's direct competitor for the X850XT comes out (6850GT)

well i see we have a benchmark arguement over 6800's and x850xt's

ok, the tread is 6800gt vs x850xt... i haven't done this exactly but for all intensive purposes. i've done it... it was X850XT-platinum vs 6800ultra...
anyways since my last post of my results, i've worked it a bit more.. and chewed through a bad 6800u.

i have my X850XT-P up to a 801mhz core, thanks to a newly installed dehumidifier and a water temp drop from 3.5c to 0.2c and a air temp drop to 5c and a revision of my bios mod, and a switch from the dfi to msi mobos with different sttengs

the best of 3 6800u (killed one in prossess) is up to 690/1320 in the same case with the dfi mobo.. (seems to run better with dfi?!?..weird)

anyways.. toss the benchmarks out the window.. i've expressed my feelings about them before.. and at the risk of violating the fair use policy.. i dare not speak of them again..

real world experience: the X850XT-p has better picture quality and higher frame rates in all games i've played. with or without stock drivers for both cards.

i'm not bashing Nvidia.. but just answering 6800 series vs X850 in o'cing

EDIT: restated more fair, NVIDIA clock to max single card reached while stable
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
o, if you'd like a bit of advice for buying video cards.. go and pick up a NON-SLI capable 6600.. such as a asus extreme 6600 256mb.. they're dirt cheap ($190cdn/$140usd or less) and perform wonderfully... then in fall pick up a ati R520 or nvidia's new best, after their price drops :) .. trust me!

Better scores in 3dmarks doesn't mean anything. Freakin 6800GT SLi Riggs score 2x 3x more than the X850XT PE in 3dmarks yet in some of the real games get it butt whopped by the ATI card.

I think high 3dmarks scores are nice to bragg about and all but that alone doesn't justify one card to be superior over another.

PCGEEK, you talk about how it ticks you off when people go off saying that ATI is better than Nvidia. Well I spent a good half a grand on my card and I don't like to hear people talking crap about ATI either. I know you have a great 3dmark score and all but don't you go on thinking that 6800GT is better than the X850XT PE. You don't have a stock GT. It's like if souped up Honda Civic with a twin turbo engine beat a Chevy Corvette in the quarter mile. Does that mean that Civics are better than the Vettes?

The 6800GT is in the same class as the X800XT non PE and nothing more. The X800XT PE and the X850XT PE are above it's class.

X800XT vs 6800GT
X800XT PE vs 6800U
X850XT PE vs 6800U Extreme

All these Video Cards are so darn expensive and they perform so well that there is no clear winner. I know this and I admit, but as I said earlier I did spend a lot of dough on my vid card. Talk trash about it and I will come and defend it.

hey im cool with the no clear winner . I just dont think its right to say ATI is stomping Nvidia. Matching ? yes i think so. But not stomping.

i still stick by what i say...X800XT PE is fast mofu...and i know this...and Nvidia is good...but no match for Ati's best...and Sli is not as good as its meant to be...

X850XT is better obviously, there is no argument.

So you call a 300-400 mhz core clock increase nothing eh? Is that 350 ->460 increase supposed to be good in comparison?

Stop PCGEEK you're gettin to worked up over this, calm down will you?

PCGEEK, all the the respect I have for you is gone. I thought you were a knowledgeable guy who knew what he was talking about. Now I've come to realized you're nothing but a narrow minded Nvidia fanboy.

Forget about the 6800Ultra, X850XT PE and all the new video cards coming out YOUR Geforce 6800GT is THE BEST!!!!

EDIT: Don't want to start a fight with you PCGEEK. I'd rather us get along then start fighting over something as stupid as ATI vs Nvidia. I'm sorry what I said earlier in this message. I just felt that you were trying to start a fight or something. Whether it was the forum moderators or you who cleared that previous post you made -I'll just assume it was you- I think that was the right thing to do. You're pretty impartial in most discussions but I think you got a little carried away when you Nvidia pride kicked. I'm not going to blame everything on you I shouldn't have said what I said either. Let bygones be bygones. :)

the 6 series from nvidia in my opinion is the better choice of cards however the x850xt is the fastest card out at stock speeds and no way is a 6800gt better than it. Its like 1/2 the price what do u guys expect lol. The 6800 ultra is more the card to take on the x850xt and in my opinion is the superior card especially after being overclocked but :s thats just me :).

yup... its a cosmetic price that display cards carry...be it Nvidia or ATI when the card is released its sinfully overpriced.
Sensibly speakin 6800GT is an economically sane choice (if u have the money then ignore this :D) but that doesnt mean that the X850 isnt better.. ofcours its better.. its newer and faster... give it 6 months and the X850 would have become the economically sane choice...

Another note I would like to make is that ATI's cards run with higher clocks this time around. With the GeForce 4 & FX series, ATI's Radeons had lower clocked cards.

Funny don't you think?

who said you couldnt ?

only reason you need a mod is to get the GT to 6800 UE .

i was able to get to a core of 430 stable with the normal bios.

But any ways grats bro.

end quote.

it's good to have an opinion and such, but have you overclocked the 6800 and 850?
read my post on page 2 on my results... believe me when i say i've overclocked them both to there limits, while still being able to use them in a case... if you would like me to get out oil and liquid nitrogen to take these cards to the point of self destruction.. i will.. but the ati will still work better... (and you'd owe me a few bucks to replace my cards) :)

sometimes ati is better and sometimes nvidia is better... forget about the high-end with liquid cooling though.. focus on the mid-range where nvidia is the better price/performer... this is where companies profits are made and lost...if history has shown the company which pulls in the most profits in comparison from its own years before, always crank out the biggest "beasts"...
the past was, ati's mobile chips, the 9600,9200 and 8500.. which funded the x850, r520 and AMR..
now nvidia has the go's and 6600's with sli too.. expect the release after this one in june to be their big one, that will rock ati...
remember ati and nvidia work on 3-4 generations ahead of release... so the money they get now shows itself in r&d 1-2years and up from now.
