ATI, will intorduce both the r520, and r515 at the sametime.. and r580 and revised r20 board in Q4

the R5XX series will use differnt structured pix pipelins, supposedly only 24 in number but effective 32 , however it may be bigger pix shaders and 24 on r520 and 32 on r580.. dont know.. ati really hasn't spelled things out clear..just what i've heard.. and in pretty detail... also they will bring smartshader 3.X support for first r520(raptor) and r515, then afterwards in Q4 the r580 and maybe r520 too will have smartshader 4.0 with the release of long horn.. but for sure r580.. also r5XX chips will be ddr3/4 compliant.. so expect first cards to ship ddr3, and after ddr4 XT-Platinum versions once ddr4 production is up... and on top of all this ATI will be releasing their AMR chipset.. this will be a much larger launch then their paper launch of the excellent ATI XPRESS 200p/g set..
....also in budget cards expect to see a rivised memory usage

the chips themselves, will feature various technical , and production break throughs, to which you can expect AMD and INTEL will be watching very carefully at the design structure and methods used in producing the R580.. as the little r515 already has more transistors than most home and server desktop cpu's

can't access HWA unless I use a proxy... lol

pfft ..f**k that! (almost sounds like work)

I strongly believe there's no need of GDDR-3 memory on R520 Fudo chip, i think ODR (Octal Data Rate) Memories must be implemented on newer cards.

If a card carries 24 Pipes then it will effective as 24 not 32, sure pipes are wider, but still its 24 !

I agree there should be XDR(ODR) on these Next gen Video Cards
PS3 will be having 256MB XDR DRAM

Man Nvidia & Ati is just prolonging their Life by using GDDR3&4

No, i am not talking about RAMBUS, i am talking about JEDEC standards.

Supreet what are u talking about?
U were Talking about the ODR Memory & XDR is the Fastest invented by Toshiba with ODR.Rambus is given licence to produce it

Which JEDEC ODR Memory were u talking about??
ive searched but no Result

XDR DRAM is Propriety of RAMBUS, just like RDRAM, which was a big flop indeed.

I think JEDEC will be releasing QDR first, and then followed by ODR. Still a big questionmark for me that why JEDEC is taking so much time to release QDR memories (Quad Data Rate), it should've been out by now.

JEDEC standard (DDR) is adopted by everyone, RAMBUS - RDRAM was only adopted by Intel on Intel i850 Chipsets, was expensive, was required to run pairs, has higher latencies, charged millions of $$$ from Intel for premium.

To be frank i dont like RAMBUS now, but XDR DRAM is purely good technology

* PS = JEDEC stands for "Joint Electron Device Engineering Council", An international body that sets integrated circuit standards.

Hence approved by everybody (ofcourse)

No Supreet look ur own previous post it only says ODR Memory
i suggested for XDR DRAM which is also ODR Memory
I know about JEDEC.

ODR refers to Octal Data Rate, which may be XDR DRAM by RAMBUS or simply ODR by JEDEC, i never said they should implement a JEDEC's memory or RAMBUS. I just said ODR, which may be XDRAM DRAM or JEDEC's ODR.

As u can see my earlier posts said i was refering to JEDEC not RAMBUS, becoz i like JEDEC

That's my vote i like JEDEC not XDR DRAM.

Like it or not JEDEC has not yet planned ODR & Rambus is Producing ODR Memory

LMAO....r u serious?

JEDEC will have ODR & QDR soon, RAMBUS wont be mainstream coz they ask $$$$ for premium, and no body likes to adopt RAMBUS technology.

RDRAM was released earlier than DDR, XDRAM will release earlier than JEDEC's ODR.

No one is talking about RDRAM Mr Supreet
JEDEC has no plans for ODR they are working on QDR
& Rambus has no plans for QDR they are working on ODR

PS1,PS2&PS3 all uses RAMBUS Memory

The x850 xt pe is stompin' NVIDIA. (lol I might be a little late posting here, but I just felt the need to back Supreet up. We happen to agree this time. I've seen too many benchmarks.)

DDR, DDR-II, QDR, ODR...that's what JEDEC has it in their minds.

JEdec Approves QDRII Family of High-Speed SRAM Products
http://www.necelam.com/news/index.php?Subject=detail&page=jedec

And it planned since 2002, and next step is ODR.

i am saying that QDR was planned way back in 2002, and their next step is ODR. Which may be available by 2006 or 2007/

And RAMBUS ask $$$$$$$$$$$$ for premium for implementation, dont expect everybody to use it except Intel, hey what happend with their RDRAM's?

Yes RDRAM on PC was a big Flop But Sony is using RDRAM on PS2 Successfully

is the samsung 512mbit GDDR3 the same as all other GDDR3 memory being used today??..I thought this particular ram module was a major breakthrough...as in the first ever 512mbit graphic memory... are all GDDR3 modules 512mbit?... this question to anybody except Azeem.....

Hi Varun, I think u have a valid point here, Samsung released 512bit memory back in November 2004, but those memories are not being used on Graphic Cards till yet, Nvidia & ATI on their next Generation cards may have these memories.

Both ATI & Nvidia are still using GDDR-3 memories with 256bit memory Interface.

Azeem, ur still a kid who is some kinda wierd dillusions, get over it, and dont u PM me again, i'll prolly delete it without reading it. Change ur attitude first of all and be mature..................... "Bursting Bubbles" !!

Did read by post where i explained what JEDEC means? and what RAMBUS is upto?, i knew about this XDR from quite time now. JEDEC will have QDR & ODR. Dont expect XDR DRAM to be mainstream, becoz it simply doesnt deserve it.

I wont argue on this one now, coz i know i am talking to most stupid person i've ever came across.

so GDDR3 still has plenty of unexplored potential.... I've heard the bandwidth od this samsing ram module to be 1.6GBps... and its 512 MEGA bit !!!!
so this thing is obviously faaaast... in such a situation... why should anybody look towards a totally new platform??... obviously GDDR3 itself hasnt been fully exploited.
