Oh, and also, it says that the beta release will be out by August 3. That's not too far away. I wonder if it's going to be the 32 and 64bit version, or the 64bit only.

Did you really think that "Longhorn" was going to carry on to its market release name? Longhorn itself, as a name, is a lame duck. It was only a matter of time before the marketeers (AKA "rah-rah's" ) in Redmond got their weak collective committeethink on it, and changed it to "Something the company can rally behind and the valued consumer can identify with".

Vista = view... Windows... get it?

"it ain't got no vista, it ain't got no view, and it SURE ain't go no vista of no views!"

it's better than XP as far as names go. "XPerience"? weak.

Only Microsoft could make a gay name even gayer.

I hope that isn't the finaly release name. If it is, they should have kept it as longhorn.

Yep, I'm afraid it is. Couldn't they have thought of a better name? Longhorn actually sounded kinda cool. I wish they had left it.

Come on now... we're dealing with the same rah-rah's (marketeers) that capitalized on fear and panic and brought us the steaming pile of OS poo we know as WindowsME ("Millenium" Edition).

If I was a fly on the wall in their (the marketeers) office, I bet money they had brainstormed names like WindowsAV (Anti-Virus), WindowsTNS (Total Net Security), WindowsWFE (We Fixed Everything), WindowsIETLx (It's Easier Than Linux!).

So now we call it, what, WindowsVi?

I'm not going to even start a battle here, but at the very least, Mac has fairly toothy names for its OS releases (Jaguar, Panther, Tiger, etc.)

They could have just called it Windows V. They think of good codenames, but crappy marketing names.

The sad thing is that whatever name the choose probably won't hurt sales. I personally dispise the name but what can we do about it?

Well GT90, we can all lash out against Microsoft and buy Macintoshes with their insanely different Intel CPUs, Microsoft software, and Unix-based operating system. Wait, never mind. Microsoft wins either way. Lol! :)
