everytime i tried to install Microsoft TCP\IP Version 6 for my LAN connection, it always says:
"Could not add the requested component. The error is: an extended error has occured" like i have any idea what that means....

anyway, what can i do?

Did you try putting the XP disk in? I'm guessing that some of the files that it needs to install are corrupt so it needs to get them from the disk if at all possible.
