Old news guys. I've seen that board a couple of months ago.

Its a joke though isnt it? You'd need 6 FX 57's so it wouldnt bottleneck!

Who would even want that in their rig? Imagine the heat and the noise generated!! You could keep yourself and your neighbours warm in the winter!!

The gas thing is you will get stupid f**ks buying this and complaining there PCI sound card wont fit!!! coz there is not enough room as my USB pci card is in there.

Wonder what the performance gains would be over an SLi setup, or would the CPu bottleneck even with a high end CPU.

An 8 Opteron setup with 4x 7800gtx.

My god. You would need shares in ESB! (Electricity Supply Board here in Ireland LOL)

Now, does anybody know if SLI even supports 4 cards? Or was that a slight oversight on Giogabyte's behalf???

LMFAO

You've good point Lee.

Enthusiast would still buy it, and will make it another mainstream in a year or so, congrats Nvidia & Gigabyte !

PCGeek, where are you man? :)

Its a disgrace. Maybe they just did it to see if it could be done, and wont actually produce the board.

I mean, who would need 4 cards in SLI? Or will it be a 'Dual SLI' set up.

So you could have to monitors displaying the exact same thing with the power of SLI. Pointless.

AFAIK SLI _ONLY_ supports 2 cards. SLI would have to be totally re-writen (code, chipset design) to accomodate 4 cards working together. I mean, each card rendering every 4th frame, or 1/4 of screen???

Ridiculous!

pointless??? to us yes but to the rich bastards who need the BEST then i say more power to ya (litterally and figurativly) Weve been over this, if you have the cash and just have to have it then go for it. should the mainstream even think about it: hell no! but then again who needs a car with 1000 horsepower? just the rich enthusiast. one more, albiet small, demograohic for nvidia to consider

>> Re: For crying out loud...
But it IS pointless, as there is no way to use all that power. Not one game would take advantage of it. SLI doesnt support it. And there is not 1 CPU on this planet that wouldnt bottleneck that sort of setup.

How about and A64 FX-400 Octo-core clocked at 15ghz?

Four 16x slots arent all for vid cards. 16x PCIexpress can support other cards in the future, like a sound card etc.
