LCD Display Problem - Toshiba Satellite A15

I have a Toshiba Satellite A15 with a display problem. It lights briefly at bootup, then goes extremely dim. It works fine when connected to a CRT monitor.

So far I have:

- determined that the inverter is not the problem (tested the inverter in another machine and it worked fine)
- cleaned the connectors and reseated them
- removed the display and checked the connections (no problems)
- deleted and reinstalled the display driver

I am in need of further advice about what may be causing the problem and how to fix it.

Many thanks,
Todd
