Finally... I haven't seen them locally yet tho. I might just buy an AMD Dell if they have them here when I'm buying a new PC.
Well actually no, I will not buy a Dell. But it's still nice that most people have access to AMD CPUs.
Triskaidekaphobia - Fear of Triscuits
I can see it now....... Just as all of you all cry about Dell's crappy whatever....... (real reason is because they only sell system with Intel)... and now Dell is testing the waters to see how AMD would fair out..... and lets say you all do decided to buy Dell systems with AMD........ and the supposedly crappy whatever happens to you..... but instead...... you say otherwise just because it contains a AMD.... ahahahahahah that is going to be so funny.
Yes, it is true that curent Intel proc do run hot. Never said it didnt.
But........ Fans here on the AMD side of the fence hate what Dell stands for as in big corporate company, currently they sell only Intel systems, supposedly bad service, supposedly bad quality parts, and so on and on and on...... I here alot of bad mouthing against Dell here at HWA by 80% of the residence here.
It is just funny to me to see what is going to happen next if and when Dell decide to carry AMD enabled systems. Next thing I am going to hear is all the very same AMD fans here at HWA that once hate Dell will next praise Dell on everything and that will include quality parts, service, as a company, etc..... It all has to do with Bias'd for AMD and nothing to do with what it is supposedly who Dell is. Its funny.
And yes...... HP is HP, Dell is Dell, and whomever is whomever........ They serve a purpose in business and they provide what the market needs. Just as all the enthusiasts here on HWA would go to specialty stores for their needs and not to the likes of Dell, HP, IBM or whomever.
By the way.... My 6 closest friends all have multitudes of Dell systems both desktops and laptops over the course of 6 years and I personally asked each them if they ever had problems with hardware or service at Dell and all their answers were a resounding "no problems what so ever" and a great experience with the company. Now these are their words
I understand your point. I for one will never buy a Dell whether they carry AMD or Intel. But one reason why people would rather buy Dell if they sell them with AMD CPU's is for Gaming & for a good cheaper than average price.
But I do see your point. I have a probelm with Dell Period. If they carry a Dell AMD system, then I would say it's junk like all the rest of HP's DELL's Toshiba's etc.
I don't know what you guys are smokin'...
I prefere to build my system from scratch not because of I want to stick it to the big corporations but because I Enjoy the hands on aspect of building my own machine from the case up.
There are those people out there that juse want a computer to do word processing, spreadsheets, and surf the net, and thats it. A Dell works great for something like that.(I am of couse not mentioning the XPS systems which are crap compared to what Dell advertises they can do.)
there was mention of Intell chips running hot as hell......and they do I'm not arguing that point but with good enough cooling that really doesn't matter. For the average computer user that extra heat is not an issue because as "Joe Computer User" they will probably never put that processor anywhere nere what we put them through.
Athlon T-bird 1.4Ghz @1.56Ghz with no additional cooling
MSI K7T Turbo LE W/ Raid
1GB PC133 RAM
Nvidia Geforce4 Ti 4200 128MB
Sound Blaster Live! MP3+
TDK 32X10X40 CD Burner + DVDROM Drive
LIAN LI Aluminum Case
300W Power supply
Oh come on! Does this change anything? If you buy from Dell it's like saying "I can't build a PC" or "I can't be bothered building a PC", even if it's just a processor I can only speak for myself, building and tweaking a PC is half the fun! I wouldn't buy an AMD processor from Dell on prinicple. Hehe, I know why they're trying to sell AMD, it's cause they're going down - marketshare-wise anyway. They don't like that, they're like any other large corporation: greedy for just more and marketshare...
I dont know why everyone bashs Dell all the time. If you can build your own machine, great, do it. For everyone else not on HWA or computer literate, Dell is an awesome choice. They have good service, they have fast machines, and they have an even better warranty plan. Sure it doesnt have AMD, but for the average user, pentium is the more appropriate cpu. I dont have a dell, but i service about 500 of them and having the warranty for these dells makes it easy for swapping bad parts. With dells lcd/computer combo deals, i totally recommend Dell to people who need a new machine and monitor. The thing i don't recommend though is the Dell printers, they are peices of sh*t!. Get yourself an HP printer and call it good.
