I have no problems with shadows & reflections with my X800XL. I think that the X1800's are new & I am sure that when ATI finnaly releases there Cat 6.0 series drivers, there will be no problems.

ATI is also working on Cat 5.13 for a late December release, which should have a slew of bug fixed & increase performance & image quality thanks to AVIVO ;)

Yes, SuperXP is correct, X1800 series isn't fully matured yet, those upcoming Catalysts will give even better Picture.

RSA, there are links given by me back, beat my Image Quality first, let alone X1800, lol..you're smoking man..lol

RSA who really cares about reflection other then you ? Its all about color and detail and speed isn't it ?

I personally rather have the power and detail over reflection any day.

It is interesting to see that ATI seem to lack reflection in there GPU,s but dam do they own in everything else.

Yeah, its unusual the reflections are missing. But certainly looks great anyway. Kudos to ATI for keeping their image quality top notch.

That's nothing more than a Driver issue, future Drivers will sort it out, PCGeek's picture actually changed the whole look, I haven't seen any Image Quality like this before, textures are amazing, AF rockin.. amazing.

I have reflections in when I game with my X800XL, so I am guessing that ATI's new CAT 6 drivers will resolve it for the X1800's.

Going to pick up my San Diego 3700+ :)

And PCGeek, I wouldn't be surprised to see if you get those reflections with few older Catalysts like 4.11 & 5.4 but not with 5.11 & 5.12 specifically.

LOL but reflection in F.E.A.R what matter's most at the moment :D

It is beyond conclusive that the image quality is superior.

However, in D3D, at the same visual settings in HL2 and Far Cry, is the statement true that a single X1800XT when OCed is consistently faster (higher FPS) than a GT SLI? How about a GTX SLI.. (don't think so, because a GTX512 single is slower than a GTX SLI)? At stock versus stock?

PCGEEK Dec 15, 2005, 01:51pm EST Report Abuse
>> Re: PCGEEK takes on ATI X1800XT 512
its faster then my 7800 Gt OC SLI in every game FPS wise yes. I can not speak for 7800 GTX SLI i didn't own them.

From what i can see this card has toppled my SLI performance in games. quality and FPS. That's no LIE.

Tell ya the truth I had no intention of keeping this card. I was board and thought Ok ill give it one last try with pics so you guys don't call me a lire again. Now that I have learned how to use it and see what its able to do. Ill never in a million years go back to them 7800 Gt OC in SLI.

CompUSA gets little p**sed when i keep bringing stuff back all the time a weak later lol. But we have 3 here so i just change what store I returned to lol.

Now would I go to 7800 GTX 512 SLI if i had the chance ?

If the 7800 GTX 512 has same quality as 7800 GT then no I wont. I'm looking forward to getting another X1800Xt 512 in crossfire.

Well congrat's PCGEEK & welcome to the world of ATI's Radeon ;) I like there bright image quality in DVD movies also.

Boy, you have motivated me like nobidy else & now I am putting away cash so that I can either buy 2 x X1800XT's w/ RD580 chipset or 2 x high end R580 core w/ RD580 chipset. Only one problem, I need to stash it away so that my girl don't know what is going on LOL, but heck, all she knows is to turn on PC's & turn them off ;)

Thanks PCGEEK for your honesty.

I think all the GF7 cards have pretty much the same picture quality. I have seen the GTX512 SLI in action, only in action because I was not allowed to touch the PC. It looked no different from my GT SLI. Also, I saw it only in BF2, and the frames are insanely high anyway even on a GT SLI, so its impossible to visually tell a difference. The resolution of the LCD was also low, so the GTX512 power was pretty much not used. Such systems are pretty much idiotic on low resolution LCDs.

I can pick up your X1800XT now, quite easily. My problem is that the crossfire cards are not around. CompUSA told me that they will not stock the Crossfire ones, so PC Geek, you may have to buy it online.

Also, I also don't know if Nvidia is going to be true to its word and deliver the G71 at the end of February. If that is real, then buying GTX512 SLI is outright stupid. So, I am very confused.

Ian, just wait it out for now. Don't get anything until the new G71 & R580 cores come out. And I too heard that the G71 may be delayed past feb, but who knows right?

And newegg.com has crossfire cards & several placed here in Canada have them too, but still hard to get. It's like everybody wants them or some thing?
