"1GB DDR will rip through 2GB anyday. Until they start making better use for that extra memory. Oh, and that is "FACT""

That's where you are wrong. BF2 & FEAR and later games showed a significant increase in performance w/ 2GB of RAM as opposed to 1GB>

I think someone's missing the point here about the RAM.
FEAR for example uses nearly 900Mb or RAM! Which leaves not much of the 1Gb.
My point was, that, FEAR will not play at it's potential in this state. If an extra 1GB was
added, FEAR plays more smoothly. If you were to add another GB to your MoBo PCGEEK, you'd notice a massive difference!

2GB doesn't overclock as well? I'll make you regret saying that. ;)

lol your 7800 GTX never stood a chance bro .

My 2 7800 GT OC in SLI 492 1.22 lost by about 38% to 1 X1800XT so i know your 7800 GTX 256 would have lost by about 40% to 45% at least.

X1800XT is now about the same price as the 7800 GTX 256 to.

OBVIOUSLY! 2 x times of anything would!
Who cares. I'll post my benchmarks when I get set up AND they'll be in 1600x1200 Res, you never answered my question about that anyways. I need to know your screen resoulution. I only run games in 1600x1200.

Listen everyone, Tom's Hardware ran the X1800XT at 1024x768 resolution. What sort of test is that? Obviously the high end cards need high resolutions to open up their potential. Who buys a SLI system to run at 1024x768?

I say let them run in 800x600 16bit color.... and see how they do. Heck... force them to do grey scale.

OK so any ways onto other things.

Next time Nvidia fan boys want to put this to the test based on one on one competition let me know.

I would truly love to test this next to another top end over clocker and see just how well ATI and Nvidia really do stack up next to each other.

I find the whole thing kind of cool really. It's good that ATI and NVIDIA are constantly pushing each other to come out with better graphics cards. It means we as consumers win. Unfortunately, both companies are very good at sticking it to us when it comes to the price of these cards.

I fully agree Michael Adames-Hill,

Money is the bottom line, as long as people are willing to pay top $ for the high end cards, than they will never go down @ launch. Heck, there are still back orders for the X1800XT 512MB & 7800GTX 512MB all over the place, even though the X1800XT 512MB sold 10x more cards because they are available everywhere on the net ;)

Super XP,

Yup, it's a bit hard to imagine what it would be like if things were affordable! I don't really mind the prices because I personally usually try to find something that is current generation, but not top of the line. (For example, a 7800GT or X1800XL.) The only thing that really bugs me about the whole industry is how a card you spend a lot of money on is considered dated within two or three months.

Eid_Flyman,

Sorry, I basically cleaned up that whole section of the thread to clear out the flamewar. I didn't intend to single your post out.
