That's very odd because the review of the first X1800XT's was that they ran hotter than any card they tested. Maybe it has something to do with the new drivers as well?

EDIT: Never mind, but isn't that fan loud? 100% on this X850XT is way too much noise.

No listen . The card defaults 20% speed on fan. Change it to 100% and it drops like a rock. Doubt they did anything to the speed of the fan on there tests. Hell they probably slowed it to 15% lol.

You guys are funny. 2 x 7800GT's in SLI is O.K. but wont beat 1 x X1800XT, because you can always get another (Crossfire Edition) card & run them in Crossfire which will kill 2 x 7800GTX's. We already know that 1 x X1800XT competes well with 2 x 7800GT's.

And as for image quality, if you don't have a good monitor, then forget about it. There is not an LCD or DLP that can take CRT's image quality. You will need a plasma to compete. So, it may look better on my screan than your screan & visaversa ;)

I wouldn't exactly say KILL two 7800 GTX 512MB cards, the monsters have a huge Over-Clock over the regular stock speed and in one on one it's 20 frames ahead of a X1800XT, so you will be left with the option of Over-Clocking your ATi card to match the performance in frames. all THOUGH the ATi card is $200 cheaper...

Lol 7800 GTX 512 owns the ATI X1800XT 512. Every one knows this.

Who says I'm selling out to ATI ? I just found a new GPU that has killer performance at a good price.

In game performance i have proven the X1800Xt 512 matches 2 7800 GT OC in SLI.

Predator! Wtfux man? D: *Points to sig* I ran F.E.A.R. on one card since I can't run it on Sli. It ran fine with everything max ( drivers and ingame ) . It does get laggy if I'm in a huge gun fight in multiplayer, but it never dropped below 25-30FPS for me in single player. Wonder why fraps wont show the number for me in the screenshots. ._.

Plus I don't think CompUsa will carry the GTX512 for a while ( in store ). And we all know PCGeek will never shop online...so yeah...:x

PCgeek,

Kinda confused.... didnt you return the X1800XT back to compUSA and then got two new BFG 7800 GT back in your system because you did not like the performance of the ATI ????? But now you got another X1800XT (this is a second unit) ???? still trying to figure out if you took the X1800XT back to the store. So why did you go back and get X1800XT ?

No offence but the 7800GTX 512 stinks in Price/Performance. The X1800XT 512MB is a way better buy.

Don't get me wrong, the 7800GT 512MB is a killer card & that is all it does is kill the competition. If only the price was not that expensive. But I know what is going on with that card. Retailers are jacking up the price & ripping people off.

If you google around, you will see several negative reviews of the 7800GTX 512MB & a load of positive reviews for the X1800XT 512MB. Why does the 7800GTX 512MB have negative reviews?

Because it does not perform the way people visioned it to perform like. And that high $800usd price tag is just PATHETIC. I rather get 2 x X1800XT's in Crossfire, spend $1100usd & destroy the 7800GTX 512 by FAR & be a way better Price/Performance. Still high $though$, but better ;)

Why don't i shop on line you all ask ? I buy in store policies and upgrade by taking them back and paying the difference. Also I will never settle on hardware. if it don't OC like i want it to. it goes back and I try another set.

Yes superxp I 100% agree with you. If 1 X1800Xt 512 performs this well for $200.00 less then its a better buy over 7800 GTX 512 any day.

Pfft, tell me about it. It seems ATi priced their card properly ever since release, for nVidia for charge this much... seems like ATi rushed them out on this one.

I do know that NVIDIA is selling the 7800GTX 512 for an O.K. price, a little too high for me though, but there are retailers jacking up the price way too high, and that is not fair for people what want to buy it.

Heck, here in Canada, they are selling the 7800GTX 512 for way too much. But the funny thing is that they cannot get the card, because they do not excist or it will take them more than 3 weeks to maybe get one.

In Canadian $$$$$.
7800GTX 512MB = $1,050
http://www.pcvonline.com/productDetails.aspx?id=1915
7800GTX 256MB = $697 (OC version is $800)
7800GT = $469
Sapphire X1800XT 512MB = $629
Sapphire X1800XL = $424

I guess they are very pricy here in Canada.

Take Care,
