A Opteron is a 2.0Ghz chip. Its designed for servers and the OC world seems to think that
AMD pushed FX chips out as these 2.0Ghz Opteron Chips hoping they stayed in servers.

Also AMD are making sellers only sell them to Server builders and not as OEM to the public. Altho
stores have upped the price but you can still get them.

Alot can hit 3Ghz as you see on less than 1.5v. Thats the older ones altho the new can hit around 2.8Ghz.

The Build pictures any good mate.

That's somewhat like the Venice 3000/3200's. The older 3200's could crack 2.8 stable no problem on air cooling, but the newer ones seem limited to about 2.6, 2.7 if you push it. Some can still go higher.

Ah, where did you find that Neo4 Platinum/SLI board? ZipZoomFly nor Newegg carry it any more. They only carry the Neo4/SLI boards. :(

Maybe cause MSI is releasing new boards that support SLI dual x16 like that newish ASUS board.

Oh. You know when they'll be out? I was looking at the MSI because it had 100 dB SNR onboard audio so I wouldn't have to get another sound card. nForce4 SLI X16 would be better because this machine might have to run 4 monitors. Judging from the A8N32-SLI, the price is outrageous though (most expensive board on the market I think).

By the way, how does that Opteron do at 3D Mark '05?

Idk when/if they will be out. But im hoping for them. MSI might wait till M2 socket to make a dual x16 SLI board, but i really dont know. Asus is the only one with a dual x16 SLI board out right now that i know of.

And its not the most expensive board. Those dual Opteron boards cost up to $500+. Which is insane. My board costed $74, lol.

GT90,

Mate to be honest ive been priming and getting the ram setup on this DFI Expert motherboard which
isnt easy. Its nearly there so ill run 3dMark 05 tomorrow as im off to watch DIe Hard on Tv.lol

Ill have my 7800GT at 570/1300 at the ram at 250M~hz with the Opteron at 3Ghz and see if i can get
over the 10k in 3Dmark 05 which ive been aming for some time.

For non-server, S939 boards, they are. I don't get why they had to pull the Platinum off the shelves if the x16 version isn't even available yet. How rude. :(

I also really rate this board, Its a great allrounder which also OC well.

Ive just got the DFI expert in my main rig and yeah its decent but the MSI just felt a little
more solid if u get what i mean.

Like the Ram slots on the DFI dont seem as strong as the MSI. Maybe its me but both boards are class.

Ill try getting some pics of the DFI with the install and some OC results. Well just for fun.lol
