I've been wanting a Radeon since reading about truform on the 8500, I've finally got my hands on the X850 pro, plug it in, intall relevant drivers, it runs wonderfully but I can't find a way to enable let alone force the Truform feature.

Can anyone give me a hand with this one.

Mort

You can enable TRUFORM in Catalyst Control Center, have you installed only Drivers or the complete bundle with Catalyst Control Center? Also keep in mind for Catalyst Control Center, you'd need to install .NET Framework, and you will find it on Microsoft website.

A good read by the way:

Its an older Control Panel, but Catalyst Control Center has all these features, plus an Overdrive option to overclock Video Card.

I have looked in control centre but still can't find it. I have SP2 and all automatic updates, so don't I already have the .NET framework installed? I have the Catalyst 6.1 drivers from the ATI website so it should be there. Does my particular model have TRUFORM on-board?

If you can see and run Catalyst Control Center, that means .NET Framework is already installed. Open the advanced view in CCC itself, you'll find each and every option there.

I have looked at the controle centre with the advanced options turned on, just like that link showed, it still wouldn't show the option I want, or half the options that were available on that sheet. Is it something to do with the version of the card I have, or mabee somehting to do with the version of the driver i have, but I do have 6.1 from the ATI website.

Cheers

As you can see from this screen dump the TRUFORM option just isn't there and I have the advanced features option shown.

Very very strange, do one thing, un-install Catalyst Control Center, then install "Display Driver Only". After installing it download ATI Tray Tools from following website, and you don't need .NET Framework for it also:

Here's a screenshot of my my desktop showing where you can find TRUEFORM option:

And it has all other tweaking options, as you can see.

Thanks supreet.

This has allowed me access to all the functionality of the card. Don't know why it messed up to start with, but it's all sorted now.

So I take it that TRUFORM can only be enabled in games that already support it. Never mind, I was hoping to force it.

Hope this is useful to some others.

Cheers

What games out there actualy use the "true form" setting?

I have never seen it on the games box, nor in the video options.

Does it realy make a difference?

TRUFORM shines the most on your old games. Most new games have that many polygons in them already that they don't need TRUFORM. So on your older games they will look a lot smoother and rounder. Have a look at this weblink

this rather long web link.

Yes, TRUFORM is pretty usefull.

Please use http://www.tinyurl.com to convert bigger links into smaller ones, hence screen won't get wider.
