Well actually, the first generation of what it seemed like the beginning of the "Core" series was the "Banais" core. Which was soon followed by "Dothan", an upgrade of Banais. Then "Yonah" came out, which as an upgrade of Dothan.. now "Merom" is here, which is the mobile sector of what is to be "Conroe", the desktop variant.

On the Pentium 4 note...

I think that Intel should've stuck with the Northwood design, shrunk it to 90nm, given it the improved hyperthreading found in Prescott, make the cache size 1 MB, and give it 64-bit extensions. That would've resulted in a power-efficient, high-clockspeed and competitive NetBurst CPU. It's for that very reason I'm not convinced NetBurst was the abominable failure people make it out to be...

Man... just give it a rest. You repeat the same thing over, and over everyday/everytime.

lol super knows nothing except to hate intel :s strange but true. AMD must be paying him lol. the northwood killed the athlon xp get over it lol. the conroe is killing the athlon 64 get over that :P and for half the price for newer architecture that can be overclocked to 4ghz and with a better clock for clock than the 64's. Intel is going to be infront for awhile :) bout time

Northwoods and Prescotts did very well against the Athlon 64's.

So did the Pentium 4's.? Sure people bought the Pentium 4, but the A64 was favored a lot more for gaming.

Mike, why not type something productive for once in a thread, instead of trying to alter someone else opinions.

i was just cruising the threads after a long time. i could not resist telling u guys this.

amd guys should accept that intel is doing something better for a change and is currently above AMD in the foo d chain. hehe .the more competitve they get the better for us. better architechture means prices will be falling. so let's not fight amongst ourselves and buy the winning product. amd or intel. either way it's our money that we spend.

"Mike, why not type something productive for once in a thread, instead of trying to alter someone else opinions." - Super XP

Productive, altering opinions? Who said anything about that? The mere fact of it is, you don't like Intel and you're an AMD fanboy. Am I not right? There's nothing wrong with that, but the way you go about it surely is. My post was directed towards you and nobody else. All I was trying to point out to you was how I didn't understand why you didn't know *anything* about Intel's Netburst and Conroe (NGMA) architecture. That's all. If you're going to debate with anyone on the subject, then atleast prepare yourself and learn a thing or two. Instead, stop posting links to that garbage website you always goto (The Inquirer) and stop ending off all of YOUR opinions with the old "FACT" routine. I mean, you rant and rave about the same thing in everyone's thread, yet you made yourself look like a complete fool in this one. Therefore you just pretty much blew your own cover -- which is, you don't know all that much. So I'd call that productive, wouldn't you? As for "altering" opinions.. the only person's opinion I was trying to alter was your own, but since you never like to agree with anyone, then that too was useless. EVERYONE on this forum already knows how you are, some more than others.. so I don't think you have anything to worry about; if you were that is.

The bickering stops right here or this thread gets locked. We are not going to have another flame war. Don't be tempted to have just one more pop at each other in an attempt to have the last word. Enough.
