Intro: I just sticked this thread as the new Suggestion and Idea Thread. :)

If you have an idea or feature you would like to pass along to us please post it here. Not every feature or idea can be added, but all feedback will be noted.

Here are several new additions as of today:

Quote button:

There is now a quote button/link available. Under the tools heading of a post hit "Quote".

Message box cleanup:

You can now hit the "Delete" link in your private message box to toggle selection of all check boxes for deletion.

Embedded thread linking:

There is a ">>" link next to each post so that it is possible to link to an individual message via URL. (Edit: Take a look at the first reply to this original message and you will see a hyperlinked ">>". Click it to change your location in the address bar to that reply within a thread.)

This thread has been locked by forum moderators and no further posts are allowed. This topic has been recently discussed <here>. Please visit that thread for an answer to your question or to continue discussion.

nice job michael, i really like the quote feat.

what's the link feat about, kinda lost there?
like a link to a website, referencing to some review for example?

You can either be part of the problem or be part of the solution.

The link feature gives you a URL that will scroll the page until the post you want to see is on the page, and will most likely put the post at the top, if there are enough posts below it.

For the Delete link to work, (as in selecting all of the PMs), you will need to enable Javascript. This is just an FYI for those that might not have it enabled and don't know why they are getting an error.

Sorry, just had to give the "Quote" link a shot. :D

What exactly do you have in mind?

Different style? More types?

Yeah, I think we could do that. I will pass the idea along to Vitaliy when he has some time.

More suggestions? :)

How about when you're sent the e-mail link to a subscribed thread, it takes you to the last post in that thread?

a "last poster" would be very helpful so you dont have to remember either the amount of posts or the time of the last post to see if anyone has responded.

nice ug's btw thanks!

Michael,

What about the ability to see the original post when your replying. Seems you have to either open a new window and keep that original post open for referencing the problem or copy the original post to your reply so you can see it from there.

Please keep in mind that some of these ideas might take quite some time to implement or may not be possible. Don't let this discourage you, however. All input is welcome.

I will do my best to respond to each suggestion, but it might be awhile before I post a response to your idea. Don't worry though, I will get to each idea as soon as I can.

Noted, but the question here is if all users would desire this feature or not. I will discuss with Vitaliy how he thinks this should work as well as if it would be possible for there to be multiple user selectable setups for how this is configured. For example: default (like it is now), last post in thread, next post after user's last reply, et cetera.

In addition, discussion regarding the number of subscription e-mails sent is also underway.

I'm not sure how this will work out yet.

Thats something that I personally find invaluable on other fora.

I cant remember how many times I've to leave the thread open in one window, while replying in another!

Michael: I'm reffereing to every topic, you go to say General and you see all the topics, then on the right hand side you would see the Author and the last person to post.

Michael:

How about an added feature to the new "Quote" feature. When you quote someone using that button, how about is automatically puts "So and so said:" Something like:

Bobby Phillipps said:
Quoted text and such.

Edit:
Also, how about a "Preview" function when posting a reply for those who are still kinda getting used to the forum markup.
