Okay. So almost everyone has read my new Mac vs Pc flamebait thread... since it does have 65 posts on it, so I need to ask for some help from you guys.
I know you guys aren't big fans of Macs... but maybe you are of me. Or maybe you aren't. I may not be the nicest guy... but I am asking for your help.
Okay... lemme review:
* Need money for a Mac Pro so I can do my graphics development
** I am a young individual... so most people won't fund my particular needs
*** You guys are my only... knowledgable friends at computers, so I thought you might understand
So here is the specs for the Mac:
* Two 3GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
* 4GB (4 x 1GB)
* 500GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
* NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 512MB, Stereo 3D (2 x dual-link DVI)
* Apple Cinema Display (20" flat panel)
* Two 16x SuperDrives
* Apple Keyboard and Mighty Mouse - U.S. English
* Mac OS X - U.S. English
Thats about seven thousand dollars (!!). This is the most expensive scenario there is. I could drop the 500GB harddrive... the Cinema display.... the extra SuperDrive.... but the rest I can't.
So anywhere from 6 - 7 thousand dollars. I know its pricey... but I am just asking for some help.
No!! I don't mean financial help.... haha. Had you fooled. I actually mean if you could lemme know if you guys know of any organizations that might fund my needs.

i looked up and down the list and can't see why the system would cost you 6k - 7k.
besides, if performance is of such paramount, i would go with a dual opteron system and through in a physics card. forget about the apple display, there are many other good displays out there for less money.
Apple 20" Widescreen LCD: $700
Dell 20" Widescreen LCD: $400 (you can get it for around $300 when Dell has its crazy deals)
Viewsonic 20" Widescreen LCD: $330
Samsung 20" Widescreen LCD: $299
BenQ 20" Widescreen LCD: $280 or less
Off-brand 20" Widescreen LCD: $250
What do all these monitors have in common, well most of them use the same exact LG.Phillips 20" LCD panel inside (the Samsung probally has a Samsung LCD panel inside, which is equally as impressive), other than that the main differences are the price. As you can see Apple charges 50% mark up over the other manufacters.
And if you really insist on the Mac, get the Dual 2Ghz Woodcrests, screw those friggin expensive top-of-line 3Ghz Dual beasts. Or hell, build a freaking $2000 PC, with a overclocked Core 2 Duo (or Woodcrest, but then you gotta buy a server 771 socket board), 2GB ram, and a Quadro highend videocard. It will do the same thing, even run OS X.
