Cisco Systems has owned the "iPhone" trademark since 2000 when they bought some other company. That company filed for the patent for "iPhone" in 1996 which was well before Apple created any "i" products. Apple legally can't use the name iPhone. It is properly owned trademark of Cisco Systems and has been for more than a decade. Apple should have found this out before naming it the iPhone, they are pretty stupid for not doing thier research. And also Cisco, already launched VOIP phones under the Lynksys name brand called "iPhones".

I would buy one under these circumstances:

1. I don't have to use AT&T for phone service
2. It ran Windows Mobile 6
3. $50 or less

My current phone was free with 2 year Verizon contract and can do many of the the things iPhone can do. It may not have a big touchscreen, but it does more than I need it to.

Ill probably get it in two years when the price comes down and all the major bugs have been worked out and the apps have better support. By then, my Samsung Sync A707 will be outdated and I will need a new phone with a new plan. AT&T formerly Cingular has great service by me yet Verizon does not. It all depends on where you live and how many towers.

4 to 8 gig flash drive hey?

4GB
$499.00

8GB
$599.00

Impressive battery life. But no where near worth it unless your single and have cash to burn for a pointless over glorified pocket media center.

Or is it?

Decent phone and a ipod or zune will run you the same price or more lol.

Motorola SLVR L7 $200.00 & zune or ipod 30 gig video $275.00 with case. There whent $500.00 lol. To bad its on one the WORST networks EVER.

What is? AT&T and iPhone? Like I said, it has to do with what area you are in. Verizon out here sucks like you wouldn't believe and AT&T is the most reliable.

I have seen 5 different people with iPhones.

Here are some statistics for those of you that care:
-4 out of 5 of them were Male
-all were well under the age of 30
-1 out of the 5 had a sticker covering the Apple logo
-1 out of the 5 had the iPhone in case
-2 of them were owners of a small business
-One guy got his friend to type something in his LG VX8600 so he didn't have to do it on his iPhone

Anywhere on the East Coast AT&T blows. Most people have Verizon, but you see some with Nextel/Sprint and a few with T-Mobile. Most Verizon customers are happy with the excellent service but not happy with Verizon's locked up tos**t phones. T-Mobile customers always seem really happy both with the phones and the service. T-Mobile seems to not have as many locks ands**t on their phones as everyone else. My friend with T-Mobile can take his SIM card out of one phone, and pop it into another and instantly get service on that phone. So he carries around two phones.

I have been everywhere from Key West, Flordia to Stowe, Vermont and many places in between. Never have I been somewhere without Verizon service.

Personally I love Maddox's view on the iPhone:
http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=iphone

There's no such thing as an iPod. The word "iPod" is a marketing tool for a hard drive with software that plays mp3s. Yeah, doesn't sound so sexy now, does it you chimps? And an "internet communications device" is officially the douchebaggiest way of saying "it has a browser." So actually it's just a phone that plays mp3s and has a browser. SNORE.

It's not three devices in one any more than my laptop is you morons. Using Jobs' loose definition of what constitutes a separate device, technically my laptop can be considered 8 devices in one:

# A clock
# A calculator
# An "Internet communications device"
# A phone (I can make voice calls with my modem)
# A pornographic media storage device
# A video player
# A word processor
# And an "iPod" (see below)

OK so the iPhone is out, and latched exclusively to AT&T/Cingular service.
Everyone I know with Cingular is less than totally statisfied.
I have the HTC Excalibur/T-Mobil DASH. I am happy with it, but still have issues.
Both HTC and Nokia are set to come to market with touch screen phones in the near future, if they haven't by now.
To the best of my knowledge the only thing that the iPhone gives you that these WindowsMobile 6.0 devices is that you are latched into Apple infrastructure and pricing vs M$s,

I must be a Rare Breed then, as i haven't had a problem with them, dropped calls or "Roaming"
T-Mobil probably worst service out there. whats Funny is i live outside of a small Town, and I live on the ground floor of a Dorm Complex with 2 rooms above me and i get full strength reception in my room where most users under T-Mobil or other services have to go outside to talk.
