Add Universal Remote Control to Cell Phones

I'm pretty sure I can't patent this (obvious extension of prior art) so I'm putting it in the public domain.

With all the other stuff they're cramming into cell phones, and it's gotten quite ridiculousl, I think they should add a Universal Remote (IR and RF) to the mix. That way, if I lose my phone, I'm REALLY screwed.

Functions to be covered (at a minimum)
Home Entertainment Center Stuff (TVs, Cable, Home Theater, WindowsMCE, etc)
X10 devices (lights, alarms, appliances,... even bathtub (per Bill Gates) )
Car alarm/locks/starter
Garage Door opener
Security Gate opener
Programmable/Learned Code Capability (for unique devices)

Is he serious? Yes?...No?...Maybe?...He's been awake for over 24 hours?
I just saw an ad extolling the "must have" wonders of watching "Live TV" on your cellphone. (really GREAT use for wasting radio spectrum space and internet resources, and using a 3x4cm screen) I couldn't resist venting.

i think someone already did.. well not a manufacturer.. but a site like "hack a day " or someone.. i also remember reading about someone turning there bluetooth camera phone into a mouse, (just had to hold it 1mm above the mousepad to work).

personally i think it would be great, i love the idea.. just point your phone at something and press down the learn button a couple times.. lmao, and bam!, full control of your tv... hehe, i'd drive the wife nuts with that! LMAO 8)

after all i already use my phone for many things, i even keep a business card on it and zap it over to other folks via the IR port.

can't access HWA unless I use a proxy... lol

pfft ..f**k that! (almost sounds like work)

Yeah, RF is being widely integrated into cellphones in Japan. As well as payment information (cell used to pay for subway, vending machines, shopping, etc). So I'm afraid the technology is not new... :/
As well as IR.. there are plenty of smartphones with remote control feature.
