so i just got a SATA hard drive to upgrade my computer. it is only being detected on the first start up after it is plugged it. if i unplug the cable form the mobo and reconnect it, it works fine. but after it restarts bios does not detect it.

Could you give us some system specs? It would help us to help you diagnose your problem a little better. I have to say, I've never heard of that type of problem before, but like I said, give us some specs. Preferably, the brand of the hard drive, and the type of motherboard. Also, is the drive SATA I or SATA II?
