I know how to get around the SecureROM software!!

Just uninstall the game **sigh**

And you can re-install as many times as you like.

Well, unfortunately for me, I'm writing in to inform those of us with a less than recockulous system that you will be dissappointed with how this game runs. I'm currently running it on the same monitor as my xbox360 flipping between the two. All I have to say is that I cannot get it to look as good on my PC as the 360 version while maintaining close to 30fps. Sure the details look great at 1440x900 with all the boxes checked, but it noticeably lags behind the framerate of the 360 version.
Dissappointed,

Odd, I can run it completely maxed out on my x1800xt

It doesnt maintain 30fps with lots of stuff going on, but its well playable.

512MB VRAM seems to make a pretty substantial difference from the (few) benchmarks I've seen. I'm lucky to sustain 20-22fps at 1280x1024, on an X2 3800 @ 2.4GHz and a 256MB 7800GT. Oddly, dropping from high settings to low settings only nets a couple fps difference...

you sound like you have problems. i thought i was gonna struggle with an X1950XT, but it pishes all over this game @ 1440 x 900. its a 256mb version too. half the time its locked out @ 60 FPS, the rest it hovers between 40-50FPS and hardly ever drops below 30FPS, when it does its due to the lag glitch the 360 version suffers as well. with vsync on X360 its locked to 30FPS and quite frankly feels slow and sluggish as anything when compared across to my pc.
i also learned that on vista with DX10 the game wont perform AA. apparently you have to force it.

check it. http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/bioshock_directx10_perform.../page3.asp

Yeah, two of em - an old CPU and an old video card :) I would be shocked if a C2D and an X1950 did not walk all over my system...

Its a fairly shader intense engine that it uses.

So I would presume that any card with a high shader processor count (without crippled ROP's) would eat it up.

Hence cards like the X19xxx series eat it for breakfast, but crippled cards like the G84 dont.

the game is multithreaded. it seems perfectly happy running on any dual core and a decent GPU. i also seen it run fine on a 7600GT. someone above mentioned it wasnt as fast on their dual core 7900GT setup as X360. sounds like there might be problems there then, because i seen single core athlons with 256mb X1950 pros eat it up, and that isnt as fast as that setup

on the link earlier the benches were taken with a fast CPU granted, but regardless the X1950 pro managed to pull a minimum of 22FPS @ 1600 x 1200 which is near as makes no difference 2MP. nigh on full HD resolution 1920 x 1080. i dont think that is a particularly demanding game then, considering the price of an X1950 pro or even an XT, or the same cards performance on older games like FEAR and STALKER at the same resolutions. i.e SLOOOOOOOOW

What I will more than likely do is wait for a no cd crack to coem out and just use that like I do with all my LEGAL video games.
