The very minute I got my Sony Ericsson S700i, I felt in love with it. It had every single feature I needed, as well it was on top of the technical progress at that time (2 years ago). It's too sad Sony doesn't continue the Sxxx series anymore (Wxxx and Kxxx only) so I began looking at other models. What I'm looking for in a phone:
- GPS
- lots of memory for mp3 and movies
- good camera (pix and movies)
- bluetooth, wifi
- EDGE, but HSPDA is preferred.
- Price is not an issue
- Don't need qwerty keyboard nor blackberry.

After some research, I came up with the only model that satisfies my needs, it is Nokia N95. Since it was released quite some time ago, it was found to have some deficiencies such as very low battery life. Today there is a Nokia GoPlay conference going on in London, and they announced N95i model with 8GB, bigger screen and 1200mAh battery (opposed to 900mAh in n95) to be released in October. So most likely that's what I'll be waiting for, however, there are also rumors about n97 and n98 with 7.2mpx cameras. I've looked at the competitor's products such as from Samsung, LG and HTC, but none seems to have either as good camera or GPS navigation. So please, I'm sure I must've missed something... Let me know what you think a good cellphone choice would be at this stage... Thanks alot guys...

P.S. oh... and I'm definitely not going with iPhone... Actually Nokia has a prototype of their touchscreen iPhone knock off, and HTC has a ready product already (if I'm not mistaken). But I'm not into touch screens at all until this new technology is perfected.

just one question for you.. how do you figure touch screen is new tech.?
I still have my compaq ipaq 8550, still works great even at its age.
touch screen is not that new..

Well I mean fully touch screen with this new visualization like the iPhone has. (Actually iPhone has a two sensor screen [which was developed by Samsung I believe], and that is a new technology). But also the fact that it is always a touch screen, it might get greasy, scratches (even though they say it's made unscratchable... so did my SE say... but I know that it possible, with not much effort actually)

I don't know much about that 2 touch stuff.. but I do know that I am using a screwdriver on my ipaq because I lost the pointer thing... also.. I don't seem to have problems with grease..

you can also get screen protectors to make it not get greasy from your face and to help protect against scratches...

I am also looking for a new phone btw... where do you guys usually find the phones that are not the really crappy featured ones from the cell phone companies...

im gonna score me 8GB N95 in october too. besides the memory and you can still shove in a card, that battery upgrade will be heaven sent after my N80. all these megapixel upgrades are all very well, (8MP chips out soon) but it does nothing for overall photo quality compared to better lenses and focus systems, colour processing etc.

if for the next two years the manufacturers concentrated on upgrading the capture quality rather than how many MP they can do it would help. A LOT.

See, you use stylus, try using fingers every time... ;)
I don't have any problems with my PDA as well... but phone is different...
As for the two sensors touch screen, it is very buggy st the moment... can't type on the virtual keyboard with two hands... plus, the iPhone is humongous....

well at this rate we are gonna have 10MP camera phones by the end of the decade that still take vastly poorer quality photos than a 3 or 4 year old 3MP camera. isnt really acceptable. if someone sorted focus and image stabilisation as a start on even just a 3MP camera it would totally own an 8MP image. i was impressed with the K800 attempts. hopefully SE at least will improve again with the K850

All I can say is "http://www.htc.com".
Greatest phones/smartphones on the market right now.
Nokia is good as well, but not as flexible.

they are all just PDA's. some people just want a phone with more flexibility. rather than a smaller laptop with less flexibility............

Yes... but due to the size, I think you have no choice but to use a headset with it.

And yeah, as I said, I did consider HTC, but their GPS is not that great, camera isn't great either nor does any of the models come with an 8GB built-in memory. Also, I do not want my phone to have windows mobile, because I already have a PDA...

I agree, it's not bad... but IMO it's a little too big for a cell phone. And as I said, I already have a PDA... So I'm waiting for nokia.

Actually more like a laptop... Tablet PC is much better in that sense (bigger, more functions), I'm getting a tablet PC soon too, but a phone for me, needs to be small enough to fit in my pocket.

i already have enough crap in my pockets, i would need a manbag if i had to carry around a PDA on top of everything when a smartphone would do most of the jobs i need as well lol 8)

lol I know what you mean... I am thinking that if I do get this I would get a man bag to carry it around in, or just wear my coat all the time....

another reason why I am thinking of the advantage instead...

or I could just sow another pocket for this into all of my pants...
