  just got a intel 6550 cpu 1.9ghz?

so i just upgraded my cpu from a pentium d 805 to a intel core 2 duo 6550. once i installed it i downloaded cpuz and and i noticed that it was running at 1.99- 2.0 ghz.. stock speeds suppose to be 2.3 .. is there anything to worry about did i get a defective cpu? should i return it ? right now i have it oc @ 2.83 temps are 39C idle.. just was wondering if the 1.99- 2.0 speeds i was getting before the oc was alryte or should i return it ...

mobo- asus p5b with latest bios
ram-2gig corsiar xms2


cpu-intel core i7 2600k oc 4.5ghz 1.28v
cpu cooler- corsair h50
mobo-asus sabertooth p67
ram-some generic kingston lol
psu corsair 600watt
video card- pny gtx460
case- thermaltake v9

Those lower clocks are probably due to Intel Speedstep technology which basically means the processor underclocks itself when it is idle. You can disable Speedstep via the BIOS. Most likely, there is nothing to worry about.

I just had a look on ASUS website...the P5B is a 965P based mobo, which means it supports 1066/800/533Mhz FSB. The E6550 runs with a 1333Mhz FSB. I think you may need a bios update to get it to run at 1333 Fsb properly.
E6550: 7x Multiplier, 333fsb. 7*333=2330.0
7x Multiplier, 266fsb 7*266=1900.0 approx.
I think this may be your problem.

yeah i did that bios up date once i got the board. the board also supports ram speeds up to 1066 and cpu fsb of 1333 but it just doesnt say that on the box
