I've realized all I care about in PC gaming and I need to know your opinion

Yes, all I care about really is how well UT3 runs on my system. For those of you that haven't checked it out, it's Unreal Tournament at it's best and I'm a fan from way back. Currently I'm set at 1152 x 864, no HW physics, Texture Detail 3, World Detail 4, no v-sync, no AA. I rarely dip below 30 fps and it can get up to about 55. This to me is an acceptable framerate. What I'd like to know is this: if I had an 8800GT, could I max out the settings plus up the resolution to 1400 x 900 (native) and still get fast fps??? Thanks in advance for your infinite wisdom.

Most likely, however, I won't give you a guarantee on that. I have a similar system with an Intel Pentium E2140, 2GB Corsair XMS2 RAM, and 8800GT and I can max out all settings at 1600 x 1200 and have silky smooth performance.

You should be ok. I can max it out at 1440*900 and it is fine, besides which the 8800GT is a faster card, and should make up for the difference in CPU speed between yours and mine. However, if you can get an oc on that processor (i think it should do 2.5 easy on air), then it will be even better. I'm not too sure about the HW physics though...
My housemate has a AM2 5200+ and an 8800GTS and he can max it out too, so you should be fine if you are willing to do a little ocing.
BTW, Dsl, what are your benchies? I am thinking of getting a 8800GTS 512MB, but I'm not sure if Ill notice much difference. Seeing as its relatively similar to the 8800GT, what you get should be roughly what I would get with the 8800 512. I get about 10100 in 06 with my current setup and a slight OC on the card...Bloody Crysis still runs like bollocks though :(

Personally, I'd just go for the 8800GTS G92 revision as it comes with more shader units, faster clocks, superior cooling and thus better overclocking. In most benchmarks, it matches or beats the 8800GTX and it comes in around the same price as the current 8800GTS. You could get the 8800GT and overclock it, but all that extra heat is going straight back into the case.

My brother's AMD 3000+ @ 2.4Ghz combined with 2GB of ram and a X1800XT 512MB can max out that game at 1280x1024. So I think your system with a 8800GT 512MB would have no problem with it maxed out at 1440x900.

I'm not sure but to me it seems weird. UT3 i probably the best optimized game to date, your setup should be able to run it at almost all settings max. Make sure you have every update to it's latest. It just seems weird to me since the recommended specs were a 9800pro I think. So please update everything before buying new hardware.

ok the Graphics card that is apart of my Setup is no longer apart of the system as it died within a week, the 9800 Pro is the last time i ran the game on and it ran smooth at the settings i had. I must of gotten a Board during the First Phase (Crappy QA)

You should have no problem if you upgrade to a 8800GT. I've got a X1950pro AGP and Pentium4 and I can max the game and @1600x1200
