I finished playing through Call of Duty 4 for the first time earlier today, and I finished it in less than 7 hours according to Xfire on the normal difficulty setting (not the easiest one, but the 2nd easiest out of the 4 settings). That includes the time it took me to eat lunch and the entire credits and after credits mini-game. While it was short, it was the best single player story mode in a first person shooter and possibly any type of game that I have played this year or even the past few years. It is by far the best Call of Duty yet. I have played through this year's other hot shooters too, including Halo 3 and Crysis, but COD4 is a much more intense experience.

There was plenty of surprises along the way and the way they present the whole story to you makes load times seem non existent. *Possible Spoiler Warning* Having playable flashbacks and seeing through the eyes of others was very cool and something I have net yet seen in a game before. *End Spoiler*

The game runs great on my outdated computer, much better than Crysis did at the same resolution and low settings. COD4 looks a lot better than Crysis does at these low settings that I have to play at on my computer.

I played the demo... and desperately want the full game. It isn't often that a demo REALLY makes me want a game -- and the CoD 4 demo did not disappoint. Most demos just show you... more of the same. And it's gay.

Honestly, after playing through the game, I'd say the part in the demo is the least exciting and least intense mission in the entire game.

I purchased the game because the demo was great and I also was part of the COD4 Multiplayer beta program on Xbox 360. Between playing the demo on PC and the multiplayer beta on Xbox, I was hooked.

It isn't short on the hardest difficulty. If you don't move forward, there's a lot of places where they keep spawning.

IMO, CoD 2 is much better than CoD 4. There's nothing like playing tag with a Panzer. XD

Edit: "hardest difficulty" = "Veteran"

I beat the game on Hard Difficulty in about 5 hours, and it's IMO one of the best shooter games to date. COD2 was good but I think COD4 is on a completely new level.

I started playing the multiplayer on PC and it is exactly like the multiplayer beta I played on Xbox 360 a while back except with a keyboard and mouse. It's nice to see that they were able to make the game the same on both platforms. Anyone ever play any of the past COD games on a console? Yeah, they were horrible.

Aye it's a cracking game, but it's badly optimised i think. I think the mouse
control is lousy also. Not very accurate, and seems unresponsive.
4 patches to date, and still same. But then again, i am a very fussy bugger!

Cod4 is an incredible game, I enjoyed it very much, although I didn't liked that it follows the same COD gameplay (move from this spot to that spot, enemies respawn if you don't move etc.) It's still gives memorable gameplay. And best of all the multiplayer, it got me hooked from the 1st time I played it. You can get XP and lvl up, modify your current weapons unlock some camouflages for the weapons, and complete some fun achievements. I put COD4 and Bioshock on the same scale which is excellent btw. Don't know about Crysis haven't finished it yet but the game is too damn awesome.

Does ANYONE know how to stop "head-bob" on CoD4?!
I hate that with a passion! It's the same with the head-bob in Bioshock too.
If anyone has any suggestions or ideas please let me know.

your camera movement simulates head movement when you walk or run.
Or you gun will sway from left to right. FEAR has the option of turning on or off
head bob. With out head-bob, it's like you're floating, If that makes sense?
But that's the way i prefer it.

I loved the game, thought it was a whole lot better than Call of Duty 2, which is saying something: I loved Call of Duty 2. Call of Duty 4 just felt so intense and real.

**SPOILER ALERT**

My favorite missions were the sniper missions at Chernobyl, the AC-130 mission, and the mission leading up to the bomb at the end of Act I.

AC-130 = pwn in RL and just about every game it appears. This one is no exception. How could you not love a freakin plane fitted with a 105mm cannon?!?

the stand-off on the sniper missions with the Hard Difficulty Level was driving me crazy.
Srsly took me several days to past. Between the dogs (two) and the grenades, I kept on getting killed, plus the AI friendly bots did not cover me when I was carrying the other sniper.

I would like to play COD4 on the hardest difficulty level (Veteran???) but I think I will blow one of me blood vessels :)

Yeah it's a pain when you're trying to snipe in multiplayer and artillery strikes.

I only played on hardened and it sure is a pain especially with the dogs. I took it a step further and disabled my crosshair, It felt more authentic and I enjoyed it through the end. I will not lie to you, those dogs must have killed me and I joke you not like 135 times.

*Spoiler*
The mission that almost got me to abandoning the game was at the end of the sniper mission with Captain Price when I had to hold out until the chopper arrived.s**t! that was the hardest thing I had to do, I kept dying by the ferris wheel, I kept dying by taking covers by the cars, I kept dying by the little tree that's at the right of the injured Cpt.Price, I kept dying behind him. So I decided to go behind the bars of the electric cars ride and it was a piece of cake after that.

haha i agree 100% and thats exactly what i did. that level was a bother. haha i also like the one (though it too can be tough and tedious) where you have to rush down the hill to get the chopper at the bottom.

what accomplishments have you guys taken care of in MP? i've found the headshot ones addicting: i just got my gold AK47 from completing all assault weapon challenges and now i'm working on the LMGs. caaaaant stopppppp!

Hmm I'm gonna have to go back and try that. I died about 20 (ok maybe more like 20000) times at that point and actually haven't played COD4 since...got too distracted by the GTA pack on Steam :P
